Clone slow rooting

myketbstarted grow question 3 years ago
It has been 8 days for the clones and I see no root yet. However, the leaves look OK, but not sure how long it can last as it is without new root. Does giving them gentle CFL light help them root? Any suggestions?

Roots. Too few

Clone can take more or less longer to make some root, depending if you are using rooting hormone, root stimulator other little help. I have made clone using different method and usually it take 1 to 3 week to see roots on the edge of small cup so be a little more patient. As long as the leaves you left are healthy you should be fine, and roots should be forming at some point.

Thank you all. I will sit on my hands and be patient. I will stop reading reviews and watch Youtubes about how they greenthumbers root their clones in only 3-5 days, etc. They make me nervous about my clones... Hahaha.

Clones can be weird. Depends on genetics, medium, additives, and the health of the mother. I have had clones cut from the same mother (some from top of plant and some from bottom of plant) take almost two weeks extra for some to show roots. I recently took cuttings from Crescendo and hash plant, Crescendo had roots in 7 days, hash plant took 3 weeks. The clones will usually last as long as the medium is wet, humidity is high, and there is green plant still alive. You don't wanna give them too much light since they do not have the root system to support the growth and uptake required. I have had some that would not root (cuttings from one of the ethos hash plants, which was weird since everything else I cut that run, including 2 other ethos hash plants, rooted) that were still alive after over 6 weeks, I don'treally remember exactly how long I held on to them, it was a pretty long time could have been 2 months. (I kept them that long to see if they would ever root.. ended up tossing them out as I needed the room. They did not root, pulled right out of the rock wool with no resistance and a smooth angled cut like the day they were put in there.) TL DR You're good, 8 days is nothing, jeep your medium wet, humidity up, and give them light but don't throw too much light at them. Good luck.

Doesn't look like you have anything to worry about. I generally use rockwool cubes for cuttings which are a lot smaller then your solo cup and they can take a few weeks to show roots. Looks healthy so keep doing what your doing.

And you don't especially need strong light to make clone, was making mine under 30W everyday led bulbs
