Root structure?

Any ideas why there wasn’t much root structure on this plant? It seemed to kinda just hug the surface. I let the soil dry out during watering, so I’m not really sure?

I think it might be a couple things but the first thing I noticed was the shallow and small pot size. Can't expect as much root in 1gal as in 3gal pots. The other thing I would suspect would be poor soil quality. In my first 2 grows I used poor soil and saw the smallest root systems of any grows I have completed. If soil doesn't drain well it's hard for cannabis roots to thrive.

Hi @SmylinPupil the root system seems to me weak, your substrate seems to have little perlite, the substrate must have at least 20% -30% perlite, it helps the soil to drain the water well and not get too drenched, the roots breathe better develop much more. if you have the substrate usually soaked the roots do not return as they should. a good organic root stimulator is a good solution until the first 3 weeks of the plant's life. good luck mate 🙏👍
