Overenthusiastic Supercrop

Misanthrope
Misanthropestarted grow question 2 years ago
Think I overdid it with the supercropping. The worst branches hang below 90° but the growth seems healthy, everything turned up towards the sun the next day. I changed the worst so they're supported and less than 90°. Is there more I can do? A way to avoid splitting the skin ?

you did it well if especially the leaves are looking healthy and towards the sun. you might wanna get rid of those twisty ties after a while because they may constrict the stems as this is an outdoor grow i’m sure the stems on the gals wil get extra thick. next time to avoid splitting the skin you gotta pinch and massage slowly until the stem under the skin turns into a mushy consistency. then you can bend more easily and i find watering them the day before helps with keeping the stems intact. drier plants break more easily ime. and 90 degrees is fine for super cropping. i even go lower, bend it almost straight downwards and they jump back up in just a couple of days. just tie them in the position you like them to hold and they’ll be fine with 90-120-150 whatever haha

Looks good, they can handle alot. My utopia haze diary week 8 I super cropped every branch and week 9 I tied the two top branches in a knot.

I think you've answered your own question - the growth seems healthy and everything turned up by the next day - so you've done a really good job! Some support, as you sensed, is needed for the greater angles and I like the idea @gottagrowsometime has of garden stakes to further support - but if everything is looking good, then I don't see why you need do anything further. It's all a grand learning curve and next time you'll know just how far you want to take it and not risk disaster! Good job!

If you have any plane garden stakes and make and T where the top of the T comes in line with your HST'ed nodes it'll make for a good brace when buds get nice and fat also. Stuff like that. Or get some LST wire and string up your supercropped nodes to nodes above that that have V or something you can tie to above your HST'ed nodes. Anyways good luck with it Pal.
