Looking to dip my toe into the hydro growing style. Thinking of using rockwool cubes or a perlite vermiculite mix. If i go the per/verm route what would be a good mix?

High dutchwabbit, DutchDoobie here 😅 When I started using hydro I used rockwool cubes. The only problem with those things is that they get saturated so fast and algea are loving them. After that I used a small rockwool cube for germinating and put them on top of a pot full with expanded clay pebbles (hydrokorrels). These things are perfect for hydro. They stay moist but not wet and your roots always have enough oxygen available. So my first choice when growing into hydro systems would be expanded clay pebbles. Happy Growing! 😋

sure.. the vermiculite even adds a little available silicon, too. check out some wickedtstyx gows with the all perlite and recirculating drip irrigation system... can't grow much more effciciently than that. growdiaries.com/grower/wicked-stix -- @wicked_stix... hydro is the simples thing to do as far as the nutes... 650-750ppm mix every irrigation and you are golden. (or ebb/flow, drip whateer). i have a ppm beakdown for my soilless grow. it'll be same as for "hydro". sceenshot in any diary, just about.. my full power mix is 720ppm.. what is shown is merely a ballpark that shifts as needed based on observanaces from plant and stage of life.. generally just requires adjusing N down a bit in bloom by 5-10% . if i give any more p or k it burns the plant at any stage.

What are you gonna be doing exactly like a DTW top drip feed with those? You can begin to dabble with it with coco pretty easily and manually water.
