re-using soil worth it?

Anyone with experience (give comparison growth, yield,...).... I use biobizz light mix. Normally, I only have to mix the soil with a bit of fresh soil and worm hummus to activate organic life again. And ofcourse break the old plant material with enzymes first and let it rest

New plants = new soil. Simple! Old soil is depleted, can be prone to diseases and has build ups of detrimental waste products/nutrient salts. Good weed starts with good soil. I have been growing in soil for 35+ years and have only ever tried re-using soil once.....'nuff said!

thank you for your answers all ! When I asked the question I also thought about the soil as a waste and what to do with it. Going to the recycling park brings costs and I think, according to the answers I got, I won't take the risk to have bad yield and just buy new soil.... I got the idea after flushing thoroughly to use the old soil for my apple tree's and japanese maple tree's in my garden. I still have to transplant them and my garden soil consists mostly of sand soil... Best to mix it with this peat moss.. :-) I wish you all succes with your grows and harvests !

If it helps I re-use mine in my veg garden where the veg are not too particular about how the nutrients are stacked. Also I fill my oudoor weed grow holes with old soil because the rain and reconnect to momma earth balances it back out in no time and its still a great "blank" medium. Waste not want not! Stick Buds!

GreenOrganicGermany, very interesting that you use 70% fresh... According to Biobizz, mixing the old with 30% fresh soil and worm hummus is more than enough.

hi mooncat, no repotting or transplanting. Just seed in soil. So the plagron super mix isn't suited for seedlings. Just like I thought. What about the plain worm casting/hummus mix? That one should be much lighter.... Will it give the same yield and fast growth??

Also meinerseits😁👌

Repot/transplant? I mean ,,recharging,, your soil takes like 2 weeks+ If you dont want to wait just mix your old light mix with the Plagron in a 3/1 Ratio wait till your plants are big enough and go for the opposite for the final soil.

Plagron Super mix is another product which already contains worm hummus but comes also with elements: Feather meal, bone meal, Guano Peru, nature phosphate, maerl, bentonite, basalt, seeweed meal, lava meal. Organic NPK-fertiliser solution (1-2-0). 1,2% Total nitrogen (N) of which 1,2% organic nitrogen, 1,6% water-soluble phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5), 0,35% water-soluble potassium oxide (K2O). Those extra's are actually things you need to make super soil.... Mixing my Biobizz Light mix with this product could be too much I guess??? I use autoflowers and could be that the seedlings will die off quickly... Should I stick to only plain worm hummus?
