Any black soil with proper pH level (5.0 - 6.5) is alright.
Get some perlite too, mix it with your soil (80% soil, 20% perlite). Also make a perlite layer 1-2 cm thick at the bottom of your pot - it helps draining.

soil not accepting waterSo last Sunday I watered in a little less than a gallon for each, in 7-gallon pots. the bottom is soaking wet, but about 1/2 inch down the soil seems bone dry. Promix users - High runoff PPM out of the bag?For those who use promix, I'm wondering if you've noticed high outflow PPM from fresh promix? I'm using promix HPCC.
My inflow was 300
My outflow was nearly 2000
I calibrated my bluelab pen to ensure accuracy.
