Any black soil with proper pH level (5.0 - 6.5) is alright.
Get some perlite too, mix it with your soil (80% soil, 20% perlite). Also make a perlite layer 1-2 cm thick at the bottom of your pot - it helps draining.

Lightening Soil - Coco Coir or Perlite?I think my soil is a bit heavy and could have better drainage. Should I add more perlite or some coco coir for my next garden? My base is Biobizz Light-Mix. Problem measuring EC. Is it my measuring device? Or maybe my measuring method? Im very confused. Help please!!I ve performed several EC readings in water comming off my pot when I water and they always give very high values: 3.5 to 4.5. People told me it shoudnt be higher than 2.5. Clay pebbles at the bottomI'm thinking using this like maybe an half inch in 4 gallon fabric pot - for better airflow for roots & to prevent overwatering. They absorb the excess well and give off slowly.

My outflow was nearly 2000
I calibrated my bluelab pen to ensure accuracy.
