It's more of a choice and experience really because Rockwool blocks are just a soilless substrate or growing medium.

uhm sure they do, some even do NFT in a 2'x4' it's not a problem , just a choice. My thing with rockwool is that it doesnt work as well as a normal root plug, but it does become necessary when you want to grow sterile. hope this helps ! 🚀

Promix users - High runoff PPM out of the bag?For those who use promix, I'm wondering if you've noticed high outflow PPM from fresh promix? I'm using promix HPCC.
My inflow was 300
My outflow was nearly 2000
I calibrated my bluelab pen to ensure accuracy.

Did I need to size up to larger rockwool cubes?Geminated seeds in 1x1x1 rockwool cubes. End state is to be in 5 gallon buckets with 8" net pot and clay pebbles. I figured the roots are too small to reach all the way into water solution still so put small cubes into 4x4x4 rockwool. Did I need to use larger cubes?

Maintaining the soil pHI give pH'ed water, never more than 800ppm and I still always end up with lockouts. I used to not give water untill runoff but now I do. What to do after testing the runoff? Roaches in my new bag of Happy Frog soil.New grower. Swapping out my promix for soil. I wanted to make a mix of Happy Frog, Ocean Forest and perlite. My Happy Frog soil received via Amazon is full of roaches! Dumb question but is this trash now? How in the world do I return an open bag of soil to AMZ?!

White mold?My smart pot is turning white at the bottom. There also appears to be roots trying to pop through. I put rocks between the pot and plate for air. I have one blade of grass and a tiny weed popping up, so conditions at the top of the pot are okay. Should be worried?

ph problem in cocoHigh growmies, I grow in canna coco and checked my run off today and found 1 girl's ec was way to high so gave her a good flush with PH'd water 5.8.This did the trick and brought the ec back to where I want it but then checked ph and it went up with each flush any idea's ???Setup. Brand new coco shows PH at 4.5, plants in germination stateI am germinating my seeds in coco. My coco shows PH of 4.5! That seems way too low! I tried to flushing with PH 6.7 water without any effect (see growdiary for more info). What should I do? Is something wrong with my coco?

I measured the earth and its 17.5 C
mind you on the top side which is moist

PH rise in DWCI'm having serious problems with the water PH. My tap water it's around 8PH and 300ppm, I'm using GHE PH down as other times until 5,5ph. I don't know why, this time few hours later the acidity of the water rise between 1 or 2 point, Any idea what happen?

Good quality soil for second grow?I’m looking for a good quality soil for my second run of plants for when I transplant. I used miracle grow organic potting mix for my first run but was told without the person knowing the brand it was trash just from the looks of it. Dont want to make that mistake again.
