It's more of a choice and experience really because Rockwool blocks are just a soilless substrate or growing medium.

uhm sure they do, some even do NFT in a 2'x4' it's not a problem , just a choice. My thing with rockwool is that it doesnt work as well as a normal root plug, but it does become necessary when you want to grow sterile. hope this helps ! 🚀

Overwatered cubes in hydro? Too close to the sun? or effect of having addHi All, I have issues with my first hydro grow - i effed up. I think i was too slow in the transfer over in the tank. Light is 200 PPFD, EC at 0.6, and barely added any nutes.
Did i manage to overwater some of these plants by having them too close to the net pot?3y ago

Problem measuring EC. Is it my measuring device? Or maybe my measuring method? Im very confused. Help please!!I ve performed several EC readings in water comming off my pot when I water and they always give very high values: 3.5 to 4.5. People told me it shoudnt be higher than 2.5. noticed the ph in the Pots is at 6.5+, something to do with the Hydroton. In order to balance it i had to drop the res PH to 4.0, but it constantly rises back up to 6. Using RO water
Suggestions appreciated, will the Hydroton eventually stop having the ability to raise my PH?Week 1

First time testing PPM and slightly panicked :cRunoff was at 2200PPM. I flushed her with 5L of pH 5.8 water. I got the runoff to 1000PPM where I left it. The pH was at 7 though and was higher than before the flush. Why is that? I always pH before watering. Also, is the flush going to cause trouble for her? I kind of panicked.7y ago

White mold?My smart pot is turning white at the bottom. There also appears to be roots trying to pop through. I put rocks between the pot and plate for air. I have one blade of grass and a tiny weed popping up, so conditions at the top of the pot are okay. Should be worried?
