Should I just plant into the 5 gal fabric pot for final transplant, or transplant first into a 3 gal pot then into the 5 for flowering?

Depends on what you're growing... starting small and transplanting is great for photoperiods, not great for autoflowers.... autoflowers don't like to be transplanted as this is pretty stressful and they don't usually have time to recover but photoperiods are an entirely different matter... starting them in a smaller pot will allow for a really good root system to develop which, in turn, benefits them when they're transplanted. So in short - if they're autoflowers, plant them in the 5 gallon, if they're photoperiods, it doesn't matter. Good luck!

If you have a reason to save space.. sure do the gradual up potting. I go solo cup, 1 gallon to final pot (5 g soilless usually).. sometimes skip the 1 gallon tho. IMO you’re adding grow time by transplanting more. Unless you’re hunting traits or gonna only flower certain plants out or there’s other factors.. just go to the 5 gal i say

Gradual up-potting really helps build nice big root balls. I suggest taking the little bit of time and going from 1 to 3 to 5. I hope this helps.

I start with 1 to 3 to 5 or 7gal then call it a day and give them 2-3 weeks in between transplants. If they are autos plant directly into 5gal and no transplant. Good Luck!
