Growing autos in coir pots

Kviatechstarted grow question 2 years ago
I am germinating two more Fast Buds seeds. About to finish soaking them. Someone said that it's not recommended to transplant autos. How about those small coir pots? Roots are supposed to grow right through them. Has anyone had any success growing in them?

I have, every once in a while, started my autos in small peat pots and then just planted the entire thing in my larger pot - works a treat. If the roots grow through the pot, you'll have NO trouble putting them in their forever home. In order to make SURE you won't have problems with coir pots, water them from the bottom - put your small pots on a tray or saucer and pour the water into this allowing the pots to soak up the water from below... this should help break down the coir. This isn't really considered transplanting... that would be if you were removing them from their first pot and putting them in another one... so you'll have no worries. And it won't matter WHEN you do it... you could do it now or you could wait until you start to see a hint the roots are coming through the coir pot... but when you DO see the roots start to come through, get them in the larger pot asap. Good luck!

Please do not listen to granny. The roots will rootbound inside this small container and she will stop growing. Just let the soil dry out for 2 days. Cut the coco coir pot away from the soil and transplant her to a larger pot. When done carefully she wouldn't even notice! Happy Growing! 😋

Autos are more prone to compilations from transplanting. I have transplanted and few and have had some mixed results. If you just starting out the best and easiest method to growing autos is by starting it off in its forever pot. No transplants and no HST. You know you ran into an issue if it stops growing or enter flower earlier then expected. As for the coir pots. they don't always breakdown fast enough and the roots may still become root bound then that's an issues all on its own. best Of Luck! ***disclaimer, multiple people are answering all questions as there is a contest called GOTM, when a user is selected as the answer they get a point.
