I'd like to believe that but that's not what it looks like to me... the roots wouldn't be "hairy" at this point... I think the seed is dead and a fungus is growing on it.... BUT wait a day or two and you'll know for sure. Good luck!

Thanks for the answers. I believe the seed is dead as i went to move some dirt away to get a better luck & the seedling just fell apart. Starting another seed.

I don't think so, unfortunately. My first grow, I put the seeds to soil to early after paper towel method. What you've experienced there looks like what happened to me. That there looks like mould from a dead seed. If it has already sprouted and only just gone this way, you might be able to revive with a very fine concentration of Aloe Vera (Biobizz Acti-Vera e.g. or from homemade aloe gel). A slight concentration of lemon juice also may help to kill the mould, perhaps with a little more light, heat and less watering after to avoid excessively moist soil. I happily put this to debate, though, as I'm not experienced yet.

It looks to be that way to me. If it gets more fuzzy and build up in height it could be a mold but I don't think its that. The top part of the plant should be where it is vs what your seeing now. Might not have sown it far enough into the medium or it got mixed up.
