Defoliation during early flowering

I wonder whether trimming the lower (big) leaves would be beneficial? Because they’re all shaded now but maybe they participate in the transpiration process at night?

If they aren't covering any potential bud nodes, I'd leave them. Only reasons to defoliate is to increase light to bud nodes and airflow around the center of the plant.

I defoliated and removed lower, small, shaded bud sites during the first 3 days of flower. Was it a bad move considering the plant is bushy as heck and hasn’t stretched yet?
