How much defoliation should I do?

This gnome automatics “forge” is really starting to grow. I think I should get more airflow going in there but am not sure how to do it right. Is there some sort of rule of thumb about what to leave and how much? Thanks in advance for your help, it always proves invaluable.

My "go-to reference" is this article on defoliation - tells you how, why, when - excellent resource! But as you noted, you need to do this slowly because doing too much all at once will stress and stunt the plant. https://www.growweedeasy.com/nebulas-super-simple-3-step-defoliation-tutorial You've also got some nute problems in your grow ... definite nute burn (far too much nitrogen) and the beginnings of a calcium deficiency because of it. I would suggest nothing but plain pH'd water for the next week and find some bloom nutes rather than grow nutes to start giving her after the week of water... You might also consider using some Langbeinite 0-0-22 - I sprinkle a tablespoon of it on my soil once a month and it's brilliant at helping avoid that kind of deficiency. Good luck!

i had such plants outdoors, when auto is heavily fertilized in veg. She was overfed and decided to waste most of energy on leaves instead of buds. Excess of Nitrogen blocks consumption of many others and domino starts . You got wise advise, start each cola, slowly, all outside leaves don't do any damage, so leave them all. Those looking inside of canopy - the ones you have to take off. Your plant saw many bad things, that could trigger him even to worse side. So do 4-5 leaf daily, till chop time she will look way better. Honestly would stop all Grow feed on would orientate her for few weeks to PK part of feed, before cutting off everything If you can, try to lst her more, if you widen canopy, some buds and colas will open up automatically . Use fat soft gardening wires, she would love it at the end Happy Growing !!!

Remove the relatively large leaves that interfere with each other and block the light and leave a little space between the branches.

Hi there She is a big girl.. If leaves blocking light over lower buds just take them off close to the stem .. You don’t want to take off anything that isn’t necessary you have a lot of space around your plant for air flow Best of luck 🌱

Take off any leaves that cover other buds from light, and that's it. No reason to take off any more that that at this stage. Happy harvesting!

Dang Growmie! She thiccc! Being that they are Autoflower’s stress of any kind can cause issues. The key is a little at a time typically as you go, or none at all if you can… but those are very full and you will struggle with airflow without addressing it, I would aim for about 1/3 of what you have on each cola currently, focusing on leaves that are blocking bud sites first, and then airflow 2nd. Do one cola, then move into the other, focusing on the interior of the plants. Good luck Growmie 👊🇨🇦
