Hi @Wolvex! Short answer: yes it is bad for your plants. Once a plant is used to its light schedule, it will look for light during those hours, and if the photosynthesis process detects a change in that schedule, it may generates hormones disturbance. The plant may create blooming hormones and trigger the flowering, or it may start to change its gender and become hermaphrodite. Less than 12 hours of direct light everyday and it will bloom for sure. Despite what have been said by others, I've made some experimentations with light schedule on autoflowers and found that even autos are sensitive to changes in their light schedules. So once you set your timer, keep it on the same track, until you want to trigger flowering. Hope this will help, let me know in the comments section if you need any further information, and happy growing! 👊

If possible find a light schedule that fits to you and keep it accurate. A longer night should be no problem but switching the lights on after a short period of darkness will stress the plants. So try to start the light within a range of max 30mins and keep at least 12h of darkness when switching into flower.

Marijuana plants like consistency.. that's when they thrive. Some people run 20 light/4 dark or 24/0 light schedule for plants in veg.. I don't recommend 24/0 because they benefit from a night/rest cycle. If you mess with the timers, try and be consistent.. slowly increase/decrease the time at night, kind of replicate outdoors like that.. with a longer days. You will need to go 12 hours of darkness for the plant to go into flower. Light interruptions during veg stresses the plant out and will lead to lower growth rates. In flower, light interruptions are bad as it will stress her out and plants with light interruptions/light leaks are more prone to hermie. happy growing! 👊

Actually to get a photoperiod to flower you have to change the light cycle to 12/12. Autoflowers doesn't matter what light cycle you give them they will flower automatically. Now for changing when your lights come on during the day after already have set to a certain time will put a little stress on her but will grow out of it quickly. So since you are growing a photoperiod when your ready to flower you need to switch to 12/12.

Fooling around with the light schedule is risky, it might stress the plant and make it go hermy. That been said, yes you can decrease the dark hours, though in veg only ( it can even be zero); in flower the plant needs at least 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness to bloom. As for changing the light on time, yes you can do it, as long as give the plant the dark time needed if you are in flower.
