those are the preflowers. they are older than the rest of the calyxes so they will look more ripe early on.
see the hairs portruding? hair = female. 2 hairs will project from any 1 calyx. also note it stays in the nook. it does not project out on a twig nor multiply (look like grapes). female bits don't multiple in the preflower spots. 1 per branch. whether you ahve asymmetrical growth or not is whether oyu see 2 or not at any 1 growth node.
These are bracts. Most females will put these out on either side of the V (where the stem breaks off from the node)
If you've any concerns in the future its okay to remove them without harming
But in this case. You've nothing to worry about. From these pics it looks 100% female.
