Has anyone tried joining the extractor and filter with a plastic tie instead of the metal clamps?

It can be done, the only downside to using plastic ties is that they are not very reusable and if you need to adjust anything its a new tie vs a metal clamp you just unscrew and then tighten back up. My fan came with metal clamps so I did not need to buy any, but they are at hardwear stores and are quote common. probably around 2-3$ a clamp deepening on the diameter.
But both work and do the job, keeping something tight and snug. Up to you.

Eh, well, 1st i don't even use anything. The 4 inch ducting should fit snugly over the fan/filter
But, zip em' won't be any different, it'll possibly be easier for them to fall off if moved. But, as I said I don't use em at all. I just don't move them or when I adjust it takes a hold 10 secs to reattach
So, to your Q, sure why not.

PH below 6 bad for plants potted in soil?The Hesi nutrient scheme is reducing the ph lvl of my water below 6 and am asking myself if it is really good to have such low PH for plants potted in soil. Be ware that I use Osmosis water and mix it with a bit tap water and canna calmag to adjust the water before adding Hesi.
