boveda brand 2-way humidity packs - another vote. Do not buy integra boost. they are shit ass products. i used them for 2 years and regret every moment of it. does not maintain proper rh whatsoever. i threw 10 67 gram integra boost packets into a bucket and they finally worked. I need 2 boveda per bucket by comparison. (67 gram packs)
8g packs are good for an ounce. you can extrapolate from there. more is fine and will reach equilibrium with what you put into the jar faster, if speed is ever a concern.
you might be surprised. they should get crispy on outside before you put into a sealed container with the 2way pack. you put them in for 12 hours and all of a sudden they are too moist on the surface again. (unless you really, really overdried them to the bone)
anywaya, reconstituting it will make it less harsh to smoke. if you smoke it within 3-6 months yo aren't going to perceive any loss in potency. overly dried weed may show age faster over time, but even 1 year out you probably won't know the difference from a couple days of overdrying. THC has a BP of 400ish F, so it's not going anywhere too fast even in less optimal conditions.. Light is the single greatest factor to deterioration of THC under most contexts.. don't store it in a double boiler, for example :P
Anyway, always check your buds after putting into a container.. 8 hours? 12h? Long enough it reaches equilibrium, feell the buds, make sure they are not too moist as any moisture locked in center of mass will slowly even out in the material
in your case it will be absorbing and should not get too wet if it was over dried.. if it gets too moist, you didnt over dry.
take it out for more drying if the buds are too wet. rinse and repeat. put in for 8-12 hours, check again. how long you leave out depends on how wet they are. 30m? a couple hours? had to do both in past.
in my experience, when i notice the outside of drying buds are a bit crispy, it usually needs another 12-24 hours on drying rack, or else i'll have to empty jars for extended periods of times.. as is, usually just a short little airing out and back into containers without a repeat of the process. that's my goal. to be just short of "dry" relative to what my RH and temps will cause. That way i know it wasn't over dried. it still lost a little weight when first put into jars (loss of weight = water weight)
