if severely rootbound, it might be worth it... try not to disturb rootball and the plant shouldn't freak out too much.
of the hundreds of plants i've transplanted, i don't think i've every seen transplant shock. small sample reduces some confidence, but seems rare to me.
you are in soilless so pot size isn't as detrimental as it can be with soil. i'd wager what you see is more nute-related than the size of the pot... or the size of the pot is highlighting an issue with nute formula that under better circumstances would not be an issue, yet, due to limited size of put relative to size of plant (rootbound).
i've had a plant in a solo cup that was only 2/3rds filled soilless substrate for 3 months before they started to show issues in leaves... due to roots not working properly at that point, lol. soilless/hydro nutes more efficiently feed the plant, so you don't need as large of a pot to avoid rootbound issues.
