Hay smell

I’m not so happy with the results of my Royal Queen Amnesia Haze until now. I cut the main buds 2 weeks ago and dried in 9 days at 60% humidity.I am curing in a Cvault stainless steel jar. The buds smell like hay and are not tasteful. Will it get better with curing?

It starts with the dry. Maintain as close to 60/60 as possible for 10-14 days. Make sure they are not still wet before placing into curing container. It's best to take a small amount and place into curing container and check the humidity with a hyrgro Meter you can buy a 12 pack for . Humidity should be near 62% if dried properly it will slowly rise to 63, 64 and 65% throughout the first day or so. Burp the containers for 5 to 30 minutes depending on when the humidity shows less the 62% again. Your best bet is to check humidity if over 62% take them out and let them slowly dry by individually hanging them, or by placing on a beg sheet that's tied so air flows over and under. Get Temps at 60 degrees. Wait for the buds to get a squishy sponge feeling. Once at that consistency then place back into the vault. Make sure to monitor the humidity daily and burp as needed. Sometimes even taking them out laying them on table where they don't touch to allow the moisture to wick off. The smell should slowly dissipate but if you really messed up drying it may not completely go away.. you should be able to fix this though by monitoring humidity and doing as I said above IF you didn't place them in the vault when really wet. I hope this helps. Please consider selecting me as the answer so I can be entered for a chance to win grower of the month contest 🙏 please and thank you 😊

after you put it into the cvault, did the buds feel soft/moist again? stick together? (more than you expect good weed to stick together) if so, remove for more air drying before placing back into cvault. otherwise should be okay.. ust needs time. you still have to burp cvaults. the 2-way humidity pack does have upper limits as to how much it can absorb. if you hit an upper or lower limit, it will no longer control humidity in that direction. lower is much easier to notice, as the boveda packs will turn into a hard material inside. integra boost sucka dick, don't waste money with those. they don't control humidity anywhere near their stated RH %, unlike boveda. you can weight hte packs. they should start near their listed weight "8g" / "67g" et al... if you know the jar is humid and the pack is no longer gaining weight, yo know that's as much water mass as it can hold. the weight change is simply water mass being absorbed or released.

Its really all about getting a good even dry before the cure. So you want to have a room that's around 60/60. 60 degrees F and 60% rH, for hang drying your crop to ensure an even dry. That being said I've had to move my harvest to jars before than because of less than optimal drying temperatures and had similar problems. Yes the cure will help to bring out those terpene's as long as you do so properly. Burping the jars etc. Sometimes the phenotypes just aren't what we hoped.
