I recently got a humidifier as my tents RH was 25% with no correction. When I first put it in it didnt do much because of my exhaust fan. Untill the room it vented into was the RH I wanted my tent to be it didnt stabalize. I dont want the whole room at 60% RH though. Advice?

How would I go about setting up a system to turn on and off my exhaust fan when temps get to high? I'd just set an auto timer on your exhaust fan to run when the lights are on. Nice cheap easy option. If you turn the exhaust fan off it will not suffocate your plant. There will be plenty of ambient air in there till you start to flower... I Tried to mess around with dehumidifiers(for flowers) and humidifiers for veg... And honestly you'll just thank yourself a lot more if you leave it off. Led's don't put the heat off.. Your plant can most likely handle up to 29 Celcius with 60% no problem. Your plant breathes yes But it's just one plant.. And unless it's like a broom closet.. If you wanna think of breathing the plant actually breathes in C02 and this is known/proven to be beneficial in a tight grow.. Don't worry about Co2 for your first grow.. Or do a little homemade CO2 generator(lots of different tutorials on line). Rationally growers are using Exhaust to Expel old air, humidity and heat. Because your using an led and in the veg phase still.. you don't need to worry about that yet. Low humidity is crucial during Flower...

How would I go about setting up a system to turn on and off my exhaust fan when temps get to high? Also since my tents in my closet will the plant suffocate without the exhaust fan on? I was ysing passive intake to create negative pressure.

I have a coolmist with humidity meter and on full blast it only gets the tent to 42 rh. Unless I close the window of the room my tents in but then the whole room goes up to 60 rh.

I bought a fan that only turns on when the temperature gets too hot, or when the humidity gets too high. It's the "AC Infinity: Cloudline T6", you can also get a 4" version. Or you can use a thermostat with a solenoid that is hooked up to your current fan. The times between when the fan turns on, the humidity and CO2 values are much more stable and less water and CO2 is wasted.

Im having same problem. I keep a heater going in the tent with thermostat set to 70 and humidifier is set at 55%. Get a coolmist with humidistat built in so you can set it where you want. Yes you will fill it more often but it works. Im in Michigan and its pretty cold so I keep room where tent is @ 74 and that heat gets sucked in through intake port on tent to supplement heater inside tent. I keep extraction fan set on med (32x32x63 tent) speed as my fan is rated 203 cfm and strong for such small tent. As long as I can keep house temps @ 73 I can have a 70F and 45-50 RH in tent. I do feel like my plant grows a little slower but If I give a dose and a half of nutes she stays green and growing and looks happy. I also believe I am going to cut back from 5 gal fabric pots to 1 gal fabric pots so it takes less effort to keep her roots warm. Should help with nute uptake I hope. Hope this helps ;)

Sounds like your extraction fan is too powerful or your humidifier is not powerful enough. I'm having the sameish problems with my tent but I'm able to keep RH 45%-50%. If you are not having any troubles with the heat you could turn off the fan for a while to raise the humidity in the tent or you could add wet towels etc. to the tent to raise the humidity more while fan is working. Ands if your house gets too humid, open up a window or two?
