That's totally relative... If you put a riser to make the roots prune themselves that would stop the root growing outside the pot and make it focus on the inside, making a denser rootball, but letting it grow outside is a good option if you manage that. OR by putting more soil as suggested, or by putting perlite under the pot, so they grow kind of hydroponically, and you may water from below sometimes, and they will get air from the pot, and water from below. I suggest you searching for "octapot" so you understand the idea.
Also doing nothing is always a great idea, the plant will adapt somehow.
