m0useanswered grow question 25 days ago Any type of fiber will shed, now if you can see it is the question. With no regulation on materials used in this industry you can bet they using the cheapest ones available like synthenics, polly, nylon, plastics, maybe even ones that are not good enough for other industries like food grade because of quality control issues/contamination. There has been tons of tests done on dollar store plastic finding they have elevated levels of compounds of lead and cadmium. this stuff is not allowed but because they are for a flip flop or something so no one bothers to tests em. Its likely their is tons of microplastics going into your weed from just a scrog net. However if you use a natural fiber like cotton or jute their are some of them going into as well. but at least they are edible and less toxic when smoked. Or so that's my understanding of it.
I read an online article saying them pyramid teabags add up to 1+ billion plastic parts per brew. that's fucked. I aim to use less plastics and more natural fibers in terms of textiles but its not always easy or available. A roll of butchers twine, spun 100% white cotton wold be an ideal scrog net and rb about 3-7$. Making it into the net requires some skill but nothing a short youtube video could not teach you or some latent boy scouts memory.... the good ones hidden behind all the traumatic ones lol.
