Mainlining or Topping? Hey everyone, my Frisian Dew plants are in week 3, and I’m unsure if it’s too early, too late, or just the right time for mainlining. I have no experience with this technique yet. Should I just top them instead? Any advice is appreciated! 🙏

Pro Mainlining: You’ve got a good window for mainlining right now and the structure looks clean enough to set up an even base. Topping alone would be quicker.😇 Timing-wise: For mainlining, this is the last safe point. You need to cut early while nodes are still even – otherwise the symmetry’s gone. For simple topping, you could wait a bit longer – but if the plant is growing fast post-transplant, doing it now gives you better control. Bottom line: if you’re considering mainlining at all, don’t wait. You’re right at the edge where it still works cleanly. Besides all reasoning and any advice. To add some confusion... I would advise topping and less work 😂 Mainling for more work, bigger yield and better pictures for me to look at? 😜

i always forget which is which between mainlining and manifold.. the one that is less extreme is viable, but the other one people recommend some crazy shit to cut off all the foilage and then if you watch those grows it takes 2-3 extra weeks of vege than it would otherwise. So, not that one. LOL. Do what gets you to your goal with the least amount of wasted resources. It's good to have a target canopy - 'colas per sq ft' - make it virtually impossible to overcrowd that way and you can make a plant that wastes the least of your time and money. Divide that by number of plants, round up or whatever, and make it happen. ~3 colas per sq ft is usually enough to maximize yield. The only time i'd suggest more is for those tall, lanky plants that grow golf ball nugs well-spread out. Those plants need a bit more per sq ft to max out yield. let's say 'manifold' is the one i prefer of the 2 mentioned above (could be wrong, this is made up non-scientific vocab i just don't respect, lol). A comb of that with topping will do you good. Get everything leveled out before it even starts to grow vertically and makes the rest of the training easy as pie. Keep as many leaves as possible so as not to slow the plant down.

To get a fairly uniform structure then mainline but it's going to add some serious veg time onto your grow. If you have time on your hands and aren't bothered how long the grow will take then mainline.

Mainlining is too much work and extends your veg cycle. Better yield between mainline and topping is subjective. I advocate for topping. How many leads you want to grow is your choice. 4 leads are easy to handle. Later on you can LST to fan 'em out a bit if they are crowded.

I’d suggest experimenting on 1 plant at a time so if you do something wrong you don’t do it to all your plants. I think if you have grown plants b4 you will have no prob figuring out how to top them

need a good amount of room to mainline. and topping is easier. But only one way to learn and thats to try it out.
