The Candyland should be photoperiodic according to the breeder. However, it has been flowering since week 5 for me, which led me to conclude it's an autoflower. Could it be that outdoor shading can trigger such flowering as well, since it's positioned in an area that gets shaded early?

No. No photoperiod flowers at 5 weeks and shade is not dark enough to trigger flowering in photoperiod plants either.

It needs to be quite dark for 10+ uninterrupted hours (variable). So, a tree shade or the sun behind a house isn't going to cause flower. Even 15-20minutes or more before sunrise or after sunset is probably too bright.
