Its good to get an overall picture along with some closeups but is say they are pretty much ready to harvest. Orange hairs are a good indicator when percentage of them is high and amber trichomes but as others stated before not all strains trichomes turn color. can be true with hairs turning color. I've had strain finish with all white hairs and were completely done. I think harvest time is grower and strain specific. Smell is important too. if its not smelling too much yet maybe not ready to harvest. Some benefit from early harvest too and things can go longer without risk of undesirable things like loss of potency or risk of rot. I like racy high energy weed. its good to have balanced effects though. its always good to have a jar of some sleepy stuff too. this is just my preference. once you know what's out there and your preferences develop it will make it easier to know when its time. Every single plant is different and even two clones grown by two different people in different environments might express differently somewhat drastically. The seed pack should have a good ballpark when to cut it, not always completely reliable though. That's why you have to be able to look at many factors and if many of them add up for what your looking for that's when your chop. I had to chop down a round of 4 big plants at 7 weeks due to time constraints and that turned out to be one of my best harvests. one plant needed 2 more weeks probably and was much less potent but. there is a good 1-2 week window i would say when you go from peak harvest to diminishing. Indica plants have a shorter window than sativa plants i think. I could be wrong about this too but it seems like a trend happening people letting their plants go too long just to chase colors and looks, and forgetting about the shockability and effects. and the fact that cannabis degrades over time too. you can let you harvest window balance out the effects of strains. harvest indica early to make it less sleep and harvest sativa later to have some body effects. not all will do that but.
