can't change a leopard's spots. if growing healthy plants and controlling your climate to some extent, it then comes down to genetics. There are no magic products that boost trichomes or flavor. While there are some nuance to fertilizer - like ratio of ammonium nitrate delivered nitrogen creating some sort of synergy (google and you can find it) - the ingredients are commodities. Paying a lot of money for a fertilizer is just paying a premium price for smoke. There are no high and low grades of caclium nitrate or magnesium sulfate, for example. One bag charging more for epsom salt is just a much larger profit margin.. Like molecules behave the same. NO3- always behaves like NO3- regardless of how it formed. Whether it came from an 'organic' (a marketing term in this context, not a scientific term) source or not. Keep it healthy, and the rest takes care of itself.

Some people think they know everything, and no one else knows anything. I love the irony when someone with dunning kruger effect tries to explain it to other people. A lot of that comment was directed at me. lol. like they said you can look at peoples plants and see. Apparently some people are jealous of my plants. So that's a sign you are doing something right. I still use some bottle nutrients, organic ones. I was just saying you don't need them. Funny that they are calling me stupid and mad at me buying a potency tester and trying to use science more. Intelligence and knowledge are not the same thing regardless. There are different forms of intelligence too. Self-awareness and introspection is a form of intelligence I don't think they understand. I want to make properly dosed edibles and to learn more about what I'm growing. Whatever dude i though we were supposed to ignore each other. Should probably do that, and stick to giving your own advice other than telling people their stupid for not owning a microscope and lab testing their own teas at home, that is a well tested product that has work for me for a decade. The last one is a prime example of your their own warning.

Yeah bro. The only advice you'll ever need. Don't listen to absolute grade-D chucklefucks online. You can see peoples' crops. You can see peoples' rosin. Most of these folks on the big 3 (and now Reddit I guess) grow forum type places are filled to the brim with people vacuuming off spider mites and smoking it, smoking guttation sugars in dab rigs, not washing their outdoor, running tester beans and whitelabel garbagio. Then they'll be on here trying their best to be involved helping other people. Remember how statistics work. If you are slightly above average intelligence, say 60th percentile... That means that your chances of the next person you talk to being dumber than you went up ~20%... Some people are on here brewing 55 gallons of teas without doing protozoa counts on slides. Some people on here get pressed so hard about their crops that for some reason they're spending a band on a potency tester the next week. You still get the off-handed chirality and the flushing boo-hooers and all types of clowns with all types of bro-science. Then you got the geriatric folks talking about how much they did in the 1900s or whatever the fuck with the dinosaurs before the meteor. In the middle of all that, you have shining beacons of science and technique out there. Folks that bang it hard and know what they're talking about, and can actually walk the walk too. Find them, make every crop better than the last, and you'll be on here beefing with these kids in no time (just don't ever ask them to do any better on their crops at that point, because you'll offend). So, I guess that is a long-winded way of saying that you wanting an actual zaza crop is gonna make you not-friends with 9/10 people on here with their tester seeds and anecdotes. Anything modern genetics, strong lights dialed in on the canopy, any number of countless nutrient lines or do your own. There are certainly bottles out there still worth buying and shipping the liquid. Most solid lines in the past 5 years are just AG salts meant for dirty fields of ethanol crop corn...so if you salts cost you 1 penny per gallon, there is a reason for it. Heavy 16 and VPS are some of the lines you'd see in industry for the folks pulling za. I lean VPS these days. People boohoo bottles but they're clownses overwhelmingly. Like there are no ammonical nitrogen sources in the flowering for VPS. They have a real phd chemist doing like double proton salts to prove where their salts are uptaken into. Like ish nobody else is doing. Other direction for me (outdoors) is GrowWithGrease. But again, any nutrient line of any origin that isn't bottom tier is gonna get you there, with small differences. At the end of the day, this is an annual that makes secondaries we like. Treat it like any other crop we do that for when we want prize or competition plants (don't grow trash bud sites out).

I personally think top shelf buds are airy and sativa leaning, but to each their own. That mother is so some good shit that's not your problem. Please don't go down the thinking that you need to buy a bunch of bottle nutrients to get fat buds. It's not the case, dude. Also, as long as you're happy with your bud, dude that's all that matters. You're gonna have people hate on your shit no matter what so if it's that fucking ignore it. But if you truly are desiring more out of your grow more light, seems like the first thing to look into. I've grown a lot of cheap seeds already and I've never run into anything truly bad genetics wise but if you take some extra time to find something that makes the budget you want that's half the battle. Dude, go with some gorilla glue that's tried and true

I knew people were gonna say genetics. Without saying the point that it doesn't matter what you're growing some aren't ever going to produce fat buds because that's not what they do. You need to find a cultivar that produces fat buds first off then you need to be able to grow them usually that takes lots of light.

Light is the food man, do you have good lights? Then comes ''just add water'' thing, watering at sweet spot is crucial. Also environment and air quality, thus good ventilation and humidity. Most importantly as others mentioned, the genetics.

Quality begins with your genetics. The secondary like your grow enviornment plays a secondary role. Leave the common polyhybrid genetics (novelty/souvenir seeds) behind and invest in high quality regular seeds made by natural reproduction. Quality in polyhybrids is hit or miss because they have noticeable variation (potency, yiled, flavor, needs) between sibling plants. If you want quality it begins at the seed.
