Strawberry Cough originates from a cross between the classic Haze and the Strawberry Fields genetics. This strain was first discovered back in 1999 but only gained popularity in 2004 when clones of the original strain were given out by Kyle Kushman. This eventually led to outstanding recognition, even earning a feature in Hollywood blockbusters such as Children of Men. This is an easy-to-grow strain that does not need any extra care to produce outstanding weed, however, it’s highly advised to provide good environmental conditions, especially during flowering, as this strain may take up to 10 weeks or more to fully mature. With THC levels ranging from 22 to 26%, this must-try strain for sativa fans offers a burst of flavors and an explosive high. The delicious terpene profile delivers a sweet, fresh berry overtone that’s complemented by pungent hints of spice, herbs, and peppery undertones. The unique combination will leave a bold strawberry taste in your throat that becomes more pronounced the more you cough. The powerful cerebral high offers an energetic, uplifting effect that not only enhances sociability and creative but also restores your energy. At the same time, a soothing wave of calmness takes over your entire body, helping calm down pain without being too sedative. An ideal choice for treating conditions such as fatigue, anxiety, stress, PTSD, and depression.

Excellent experience with Dutch Passion's Strawberry Cough. I grew two plants from seed using an intentionally abbreviated cultivation cycle. These photoperiod plants were grown more like I would approach an autoflower, with only 20 days from emergence to flip. Each plant was topped early and reduced to two primary sets of branches, creating a very simple, compact structure with a minimal vegetative window. Despite the abbreviated veg period, the two plants produced a combined 310.9 g, or just under 11 ounces, of dry flower. Phenotypic variation between the plants was substantial. One phenotype developed massive, heavily stacked, baseball bat-like colas and produced 180.5 g dry. The second expressed a thinner, spindle-like structure with narrower, leafier flower formations and produced 130.4 g. Both produced excellent finished flower despite their dramatically different architecture. The flower is exceptionally resinous and among the stickiest I have grown. Aroma is explosive, with strong fruit upfront followed by pronounced skunk and spicy undertones. Effects are where this strain really shines. Onset is remarkably fast, beginning with a heavy sensation behind the eyes before rapidly developing into intense euphoria. The high is strongly cerebral - focused, happy, introspective, and creative - with comparatively mild body effects. It is also exceptionally long-lasting and gradually gives way to solid sleep without feeling immediately heavy or sedating. I harvested at 62 days in flower with predominantly cloudy trichomes and very little amber, specifically targeting a more uplifting and euphoric expression. The finished effects aligned extremely well with that goal. Overall, an excellent strain and one I would absolutely grow again. Outstanding resin production, explosive aroma, excellent yield from a deliberately shortened grow cycle, and exactly the cerebral effect I was hoping to achieve. Highly recommended.

Harvest Outcome – Strawberry Cough Strawberry Cough finished up at a respectable 6 oz dry, which I'm pretty happy with considering all the challenges this grow faced. Despite the environmental issues throughout the run, she still managed to produce some quality buds and a solid yield. After drying and curing, the smoke came out with a nice sweet flavor that made her really enjoyable to smoke. Overall, she proved she could still perform under less than ideal conditions, which makes me even more excited to run her again in the future. With better conditions next time around, I think she has the potential to be something really special .

Sadly, because of the root damage from the PH probe being so far off, the plant was pretty much dead. I've chopped it and will be disposing of it in the trash. It's disappointing, but I'll do a redemption grow of this strain as well. This will occur after my Maui Waui redemption grow is finished. That seed will be planted a week from this Saturday (3/21/2026 plant date).
