Time for a fresh start. Changed my starting soil mix to feature more rock dust, myco and added some mushroom compost to the mix. Seed popped after a few days and has been growing happily since. I can't drop my light too much as I have a lot of veggies growing in there now, so there might be some stretching to start out.
The plan this time is to try and grow nice fat stem/stalk/trunk, keep the top count lower and see how fat I can get the buds. Growing 3 other strains along side this one.
So far so good. While not as vigorous as the Wedding Cake, it's keeping up, looking healthy and stretching a lot less than the Cake. Small dose of nutrients to get her started this week.
Transplanted to their forever pots at the start of the week and added white clover as cover crop.
Soil contains:
Gaia Green 4/4/4
Gaia Green Alfalfa Meal
Gaia Green Insect Frass
Gaia Green Basalt Rock Dust
Gaia Green Glacial Rock Dust
Bacterial innoculent
Various mycos
Kelp Meal
Dug deep enough to transplant, dusted each root ball and hole with various mycos and some Basalt Rock Dust. Going for a higher silica level to get some fatter stems and branches. Nice short and squat so far.
Had some IRL stuff come up so I wasn't able to update as often as I would have liked.
I'm really happy with the growth so far and have been mainlining it up to 14 tops. It's growing like an angry drunken dwarf (short, thick, and leafy) which ideally I would like all my plants to do. Continuing to give it lots of silica base to get those branches and trunk nice and fat so I can dump a ton of nutes on it come flower.
The smell on the leaves is pretty strong for it's age too.
Really happy with growth this week on the CreamC. Nice short fat nodes around the same height. No nutrients this week, just de-chlorinated water. Likely going to push her into flower in another week.
Once again I'm pretty happy with the growth this week, nice tight node spacing. Gave her a trim and will Put her into flower starting today, so she got her primary feeding:
2 cups Promix
1 cup Worm Castings
1/2 cup Mushroom compost
1/8 cup Bokashi
1/4 cup Six Row Malted Barley
and the nutrients listed in the journal.
Also found a mild thrip problem so I had to give the plants a soap spray every 3 days. No movement on the leaves today, but I may spray them again midweek before they start showing pistils.
Still coming along really well but I'm hoping for another week of good stretch. Nodes are nice and close together.
Just Rezin for feeding this week.
Added supplemental CO2.
Cream C isn't stretching as much as I hoped but it makes up for it in nodes; very close together. Bug growth is just as good as the WCake, but she's pretty leafy so I had to trim out a lot; probably won't stop there and do some more next week.
Very deep green now, so no more high nitrogen for this girl. Upper nodes are looking nice, but lower nodes a bit wispier due to light pen. I may end up trimming off a lot of the inner fan leaves next week. Trichomes have started to develop, and I'm hoping for a lot more bulk by the end of next week.
Really starting to fill out now, and the tricomes, and the terpenes are getting much louder, an almost root beer like smell. Gave them some aminos, humic, fulvics, hormones, and sugars for the week. Defoliated some more to expose the buds, and she hasn't started fading yet but him happy with the growth.
Not as much bud growth as I would have liked this week, hopefully the genetics are just slower than the Cake. Gave them the usual with some Power Bloom and worm castings. Smell is getting stronger and buds are giving her a little more height. Hopefully she'll do better this week.
Fed her what is probably going to be her last time, so I popped in a bit extra. She just started fading this week so she has plenty of leaf nutrients stored up. Trichomes are developing nicely and she has a sweet kind of smell I can't really place. Fattened up a tad, but not as much as the others...we'll see how it goes this week.
Made the soil for my next round, so stay tuned for that.
Cream C has gained some bud weight, but not as much as my other plants, so I put her on a box to get her as close as my other plants. This might be the last week, so I fed her some sugars and acids.
Going to be keeping a close eye on the trichomes this week. The buds have 'just' started to fatten a bit, and she's full on fading. Smell is pretty much the same strength.
She will likely make it another week.
OMG this stuff is strong! Like it's namesake, it smells like an herby caramel, nice and sticky with a smooth smoke. High was a tad rough around the edges, but I expect that to smooth out as the cure goes on.
Growing was pretty normal, accept for a problem with thrips at the start of flower but that's on me, not the genetics. Buds did not fatten up very much around the end of the grow, so a lot of the lower buds ended up as trim. Not sure if that's just a bad pheno, the thrips issue or how it normally grows. Pretty leafy so I had to trim a lot during the flower cycle. Overall a pretty straightforward grow.
