Grow Questions

IslandPstarted grow question 6 years ago
I started lookin today and saw this. Im thinkin these 3 plants mite be all males or hemes. They were all seeds from a zip that sprouted. But im thinkin whats the odds all 3 are males. Is it because the 1st month and week or so of its life i was giving 12/12 light outside not knowin. Is that why? What should i do?

They look like female to me, so don't worry. Starting seeds in 12/12 light schedule will not make seeds go male or hermy, so don't worry about that. And go ahead and switch if you want, nothing wrong with doing it early.

I suggest you check and adjust the pH as the first step. You have a nutrient deficiency or excess of something, both of which could be pH related if you didn’t overload the soil with nutes. Boiling is fine and probably not necessary. Do you drink the tap water? Exposure to light and air for a full day allows the chlorine to dissipate, if you want to skip the boil. 2.5 gallon water bottles with handles are great for this purpose. Buy the water once and refill with tap. Do not cap the bottle tightly after filling . This is fixable so don’t panic. I have friends in Hilo whose outdoor grows are lush. You’ll get there also. Aloha

@IslandP, You have two issues I hadn’t noticed the yellowing, which is likely over watering. The rust colored leaves are either deficiency or toxicity, and looks like phosphorous deficiency, and are likely linked to pH. Don’t add nutes until you address pH! Diagnose your plants with this helpful link https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-symptoms-pictures pH meters are convenient but require calibration to maintain accuracy. A cheap swimming pool test kit will give accurate pH readings. That only works if the water remains clear- nutrients that discolor it will make readings difficult or impossible. Aloha

@growdoctordc, yea i just moved here from nyc..i make 2 months this week here. I dont really drink tap water anyways i got a brita. I was always using tapwater for plants till i sae 1st bottom leaves turn yellow. So i started boiling water let it cool down then give to them. Im ordering a ph n ppm meter with some cal/mag and ph ups and downs from amazon. So lets see

I don’t think boiling is needed. It kills micros that you may want it the water, and it must be a lot of work. Why not Brita the plant water too? Best of luck, haole wahine

Kind of looks like magnesium deficiency to me, but PH issues and root problems can show signs of almost anything.... If you'd like to avoid having to worry about testing your PH, I'd invest in some advanced nutrients PH perfect technology nutrients. The simplest choice is the Grow, Micro & Bloom set "pretty much" covers it all

@Kirr38, yea i got nutes from fox farm. Big grow n bloom. I was feeding just 2x a week and found out i should give str8 water in between feeds. I also picked up fox soil gonna transplant later today

tap water must sit at least 24 hrs before giving it to plants
IslandP
IslandPcommented7 years ago

From what I can see..I'm seeing points in the nodes, not lump sacs, so do not ditch those babies yet.

@IslandP . plants turn hermie if they have stress. to hot, to much light , wrong conditions.......... its a nice thing from mother nature......before she /he dies they will reproduce.... its your descision to let them grow and have seeds or to cut them down. hope your next grow will be more like your expectations are

Our growdocterdc is a good one. i got another for your pale girls.Your girls looking muuuuch better nearly healthy. use calcium and magnesium for kicking the photosythesis. but only if the basics are well (ph+ec) i think calmag will fit .You can buy liquid products. look at the bottle some got to much nitrogen in it.. i cant see it in the pictures if they are still pale. and only usig it if they are pale. Like always less is more

I have a question. Is it time to take off big fan leaves and all bottom leaves? to just direct all engery to buds. Like they say shave her legs
CRiSPrGrow
CRiSPrGrowcommented6 years ago
@IslandP, i probably wouldn t take these leaves off. I'm not convinced theres a lot of evidence for defoliation. Many people dont realise this but defoliation is HST - might stress your plant out pile on weeks extra on the harvest... Plus the logic behind it is tenuous : how is removing leaves improving photosynthesis again? Anyway my approach is that in the grow box light gets reflected enough that even when you think some are shading the truth is there s not much shade when the door is closed outdoors the most important is the 1/4 turn everyday so it gets the sun evenly and nicely.... good luck !

Is it the soil or tap water or the fact it gets 12/12 out here?
