8/26 FED TODAY. 2 GALLONS TO THE GARDEN. THE WATERING CAN I USE IS ABOUT A HALF GALLON SO THAT'S WHAT A NORMAL PLANT HAS BEEN GETTING. Wow. What a week I had last week. I'm hoping things are going up from here. It's overcast but we have a 90% chance of rain. Thunderstorms. I'm wondering if I should put my back tarp up. The wind doesnt seem too bad so I'll play it by ear. The remaining plants seem to be doing good to me. I wanted to let the soil dry out but I NEEDED to feed. Buds are popping up everywhere and increasing in size. Earwigs still seemed to lollipop the interior branches (mostly larfy stuff but still). I attached a picture so people can see what I mean. I'm getting hit on all fronts but I'm still kicking! I'll update as I go. Some pictures won't upload. I'll have to do it later. Oh and my ph is on point for once. I tested all plants a bunch of different places and readings were 6.6 to 7.3 at the highest. 8/27 Rained last night but not as bad as I thought it would. We are supposed to have some good weather coming up so I'm hoping my medium will get a chance to dry put. Still liking the liquid kool bloom. I'll up the dose next feed. I'm going to need to do another application of plant doctor this week too. It's about time for a BT application as well. I see moths flying off when I check early in the morning and I've observed some pillar damage. I'm slightly worried about soul going anaerobic. The color of the gdps are too lime green for my liking but our weather has been horrid. I never remember having to deal with shit like this. The branch that was all drooped with fusarium wilt has one (the closest to the stalk) shoot that has repaired itself. That gives me hope but I really should just amputate that branch. I guess I'm just nervous because of the reaction I had last time. Granted I've cut tons and tons of branches off in the past and prune things they didn't have whatever pathogen these do. Septoria is still there on one of the GDPs but it seems to be doing okay. I'm SLIGHTLY worried about the change in color on my big NYCSA. It's lost some of its vibrancy. I think it's kinda normal. I'm sure it has some PM (which I'm hoping plant doctor and the silica will help repress) but I think it will be a heavy yielding plant. Sun's poking out. The little clones I took are exploding in growth. They might not yield much but I'm glad I didn't just chuck them like I was going too. 8/28 Things are still looking good! We got some sunshine yesterday and the sunshine out today. Buds are really starting to form and colas are taking their shape. I'm slightly concerned with the coloring of my NYCSA but it started flowering later than the others so senescence may be behind. I may have lost half this year but looking at other diaries and attitudes of soms others I'm pretty fucking lucky. I didn't have much time this morning so I'll update later. I need to keep up with my IPM and do BT treatment and follow up with a second dose of plant doctor. 8/29 Super rushed morning. Only had time to shake the dew off the plants and snap a couple quick pictures. I lowered the growbig this week. I think that was a mistake. Plants are flowering like crazy. My NYCSA doesn't seem as vibrant green as it was. I may up feeding to twice a week or at least give them a little growbig if I need to water. I want tge medium to stay dry for a while. I also needcto cut that dead branch. I'm just afraid of a situation line before where the whole plant died. My anxiety disorder really hampers my growing ability. I qorry far too much. I should just cut it off right now. I've also seen pillar damage so I'm going to need to do a BT spray. I have the other organocide that's the 3 in 1 but I can't use it in flower. I'll just have to stagger applications. Either that or do another root drench or "sprench" and a foliar with the BT on another day. I have WPM on the garden and I'm pretty sure septoria. This plant was perfect though. I'm afraid it might be getting sick. Either way it'd an extremely resilient strain. The little 9lb kush I have in a 3 gallon is flowering the fastest. It really fuckihgcsucks I lost those massive plants. Judging by this "clone" I took off the other clone (I know) this strain wouldve been the first to finish. EDIT: Went back over to check the medium and do some slight defoliation. I inspected the stalks and the dead branch. The dead branch has a small indent (from breakage, insects or rot) where the branch connects to the stalk. I've seen this before but had no problems. However THIS branch seems to he coming out of the stalk RIGHT where the rot is. I cut the other one off that ENORMOUS 9lb Kush and it was dead a few hours later. I talked to my father who has degrees in biology and forestry (among other things) and he said he couldn't really see the harm in leaving it. I am worried that a cutworm mightve gotten in bit I don't see any evidence of any borer insect. Under that stem there is more "bark" and other stuff but nothing like a borer makes. I'm going back over tonight to treat with either BT or Plant Doctor. Haven't decided which. Probably the plant doctor. 8/30 Didn't have time for pictures. Large NYCSA NOW has fusarium wilt. Either I'm the most unlucky grower in our area or my plants got dosed with fusarium. After the research I've done I've cone to the conclusion that this season will be a complete loss. Maybe the two small separate cuttings will make it through flower. The rest is just a waiting game to see if fusarium kills it before they finish flowering. Even if it doesn't then I don't know if I would want to smoke the flowers. I'm shopping online for grow equipment. I'm going to do some indoor this winter. Wow this feels like a kick in the nuts. I'm a good dude. Like I said I'm just either the unluckily grower around or my plants had a little help. Who knows. EDIT: I treated everything with Pkant Doctor again. I'll feed tomorrow and see if some miracle happens and I actually get something 8/31 I added a few pictures so folks can see what fusarium looks like and how it progresses. As you can see it killed a branch and is progressing to the next and so on until the plant is typically dead. No need to get too scientific on the mechanism of action. I FED 2 gallons today. Still kept growbig low dosing.

This is more a "website specific" ? Fone has no storage and won't allow me to take pictures. Is there a way to upload photos directly to the grow diary app ,without using the memory of phone. Like on FB when you can just take a fresh picture? Just trying to make it till its fixed

How much pH down can I add to water to safely lower the pH of my soil? It's h frog and I've only watered a couple times. They were rootbound when got in 1g and I transplant to 3g. Ph is like 7.5-.8.5 with a soil gauge. Any other ideas? Thanks folks.

You never want to adjust out of range. As others have said your plants look good so no need to get it in range by flushing with PH water. Continue as normal, But make sure your water is in the range of 6.0-7.0. Never go out of that range even when adjusting.

How do you deal with ear wigs? They are in the grow bag itself. Raked fingers through top and 6 popped out. They already spreading diseases. Dealt with them before but not very well. Someone with experience please help. Also any tips for treating septoria would be appreciated

Bugs definitely spread disease. Leaf hoppers specifically caring many diseases. This grow is destroyed because of fusarium oxysporum. I don't want people getting misinformation.

Can someone please look over this week and last week of my diary? I've lost two massive plants in the span of a couple days time. One may have been rootbound (in 50 gals) and this is in a 20gallon. Roots did smell a little musty. Should I try a peroxide flush? Any other ideas?

Damn... I don't know what to say except that I'm growing here in Maine myself and it HAS been a bitch of a season! And I chose THIS year to do my first-ever outdoor grow... It sure sounds to me like root rot - but that wouldn't make any sense if the ground underneath them was dry! I know you want to learn - and maybe someone else will be able to point you in a logical direction - but you've asked the commercial grower and I'll echo what he said: shit happens... and 1 (now 2) plants in 4 years... you shouldn't be ashamed!! The humidity has been grotesque, the heat, the bugs, the fungus, the wind, the everything... I'd take this opportunity to, as you said, to spread your grow out a little bit to get better air flow through the rest of your grow. One thing popped into my head as I was reading what the commercial grower said to you... I've just recently read a rather crazy article about how we're planting trees (bear with me) the wrong way... that we encourage them to become rootbound... that we should instead of digging a nice round hole, dig a square hole (sounds daffy to me) and KEEP THE BOTTOM OF THE HOLE SLANTED, planting the tree at the top of the little hill so the roots are encouraged to grow DOWN, not AROUND... So all of that to say, if these were clones, maybe they DID get rootbound in their circular pots and needed more encouragement to grow DOWN... like bottom watering at the beginning? Just a thought.... (and most of that thought was a little weird!)... Good luck, man... I think we here in Maine, like in so many other parts of the world, are going to have to contend with conditions we've never had to contend with before... but onward and upward... Good luck.....

Yikes! I've never dealt with this myself nor do I know of anyone who HAS ... but JUST today I was reading several articles on fungus and that name kept popping up.... here are some links if you haven't tried to find the answer elsewhere: This guy on youtube has a LOT of fairly good vids on cannabis - this is his on fusarium... www.youtube.com/watch If you don't want to hear him drone on, this is a good article: https://www.lahuertagrowshop.com/blog/en/how-to-prevent-and-get-rid-of-fusarium-in-cannabis/ The youtube guy has THIS on Pythium: www.youtube.com/watch And a really good article on it: https://www.growopportunity.ca/pythium-a-fungal-devastation-to-avoid/ GOOD LUCK - omg good luck!

Hey folks. I'm looking to do indoor this winter. I'd like to get a tent with everything kinda ready to go. I would like a nice light ad well. Would I be better off buying a complete tent or buying each item separately. Looking to fit a few plants. Lookin 4 opinions

A couple of 2x4's some screws and tacks, and some black and white plastic from the hydroponic store and you can build any size tent you like. You can use a cheap pond liner from home depot for the floor, then you can water to runoff all you like and just vacuum it up with a wet vac.

Hey Smeagol, you need a transparent roof. Since you have a ready-made metal structure, to build a roof with trasparent PVC will be easy and cheap and It will drastically reduce the problems related to excessive soil moisture. To fight earwigs consider a systemic pyrethroid, if stigmas aren't yet apperead this will be absolutely safe. It's the time to think to build a greenhouse for her

@masterofsmeagol, at this stage your plants are compromised and a cheapy plastic top will protects them from morning dew but don't expect miracles. In a dryer climate like mine a soft plastic top is enough and in case of hail I promptly add a plastic net layer. The plastic cover is fixed while the net is removable. I've used PE ultra clear plastic tablecloths (5 dollars). For the next year think to build a top with rigid plastic like polycarbonate (here 5 sq. meters cost 250 bucks). You have to control the amount of water that reaches the ground trying to keep the environment dry even if it always rains. Planting into the ground requires anyway a drainage layer, 1.30 ft minimum is obligatory. In plain soil plants can withstand everything
masterofsmeagol
masterofsmeagol
@Rap_a_cap, you are right this year. However all the prior years were fine? My commercial friend said that putting a top on "just so buds don't get wet" is pointless. They will be covered in morning dew everyday and if the roof collapses it can crush everything. He said the hails devastating though. He uses pallet bags to cover his. I still think I can get MOST of the rain off the plant and soil with a top. If not maybe bags? May cage is just wire. The sides are all open.

@masterofsmeagol, you're always welcome. It's clear at this point that all issues of yours are caused by too wet environment. Do you want to win the battle with Maine's climate? Change the grow site, spend time to properly prepare the soil in winter, plant your next girls directly into the ground and never defoliated the plants.

Oh this is so painful to see - but you're right to keep the diary going - so OTHERS can see and so you, yourself can look back to see if you missed something and when. I'm SO sorry... Maine's weather has NOT been good to outdoor crops at all this year.... we can only hope NEXT year is better - and turn to our indoor grows... at least THERE, we don't have to contend with Mother Nature...

@GrowingGrannie, yes it sure is a sorry sight. Yeah the weather where i am has been crazy. I havent seen anything like it. Oh well though. Thats ok. We cant hit a grandslam every time we are up to bat. I changed the diary name so it might aid others in finding it. I should've taken the last two down today. I was busy though. I have a feeling tomorrow may be the end of the last two infected. Well.....that I know are infected. Blueberry MAAAY be but it isn't showing the same signs. It has some issues for sure but not the stem cancer or staining or the wilt. Yet. Only time will tell. No sigms of on the cuttings i took either. Ill put some pictures of those uo as well. Those look healthy. Thanks for stopping by @GrowingGrannie

Hey Smeagol, why do you use pots instead of plain soil? Local laws? Your choice? Stay safe Mate
masterofsmeagol
masterofsmeagol
@Rap_a_cap, well it's a combination of a few different things. Mainly it's because I can't dig at this location. I'm hoping to change locations next year. I'd prefer to go in ground where the soil is better. However, using bags or pots allows me the ability to transport them inside a very large building (used to house heavy equipment) if it becomes necessary. It usually doesn't but it's nice to have the option. Even though by fall the bags are usually rooted right to the ground....Thanks for stopping by! Happy growing my friend!

Hey fellow growers. If any of you veteran outdoor growers wouldn't mind, take a look at my diary and leave some constructive criticism. It would be good to hear from other folks.
