Wed Nov 30 - soaked seeds in water for 24 hours
- heat mat @ 24°C, tent heater at 24°C, humidifier at 65%
Thu Dec 1 - put seeds onto paper towel, in baggie, on plate, on heat mat
- There were a couple of seeds where the tap root was just about to come out of the seed husk
- I re-moistened the paper towel, surprisingly it wasn't dry. The last time I germinated seeds, the
paper towel would dry out quickly.
- I also noticed that none of the seeds had a tap root out yet, but some seeds were showing signs
of cracking open.
- My previous grow with White Widow Auto, the tap roots came out while under water, and in 1
day of being in the paper towel, they were all showing a tap root. I thought that was a traight of
Autoflowers, but so far, these seeds are not quite as fast as the WW was.
Fri Dec 2 - I noticed that literally nothing has changed the seeds with the tap root showing through the seed
husk havent changed at all.
Sat Dec 3 - I know it could be early, but I'm starting to get worried. The seeds haven't changed yet again
- Because one seedling was ready to be put into the propogator, I had to leave the lights on but
seeds that are trying to pop out their tap roots need darkness. I only have 1 heating mat.
- I'm a little surprised about what's happening. This is my 4th grow and I've never seen the seeds be
so off from each other, and not germinate. I have had 100% success in germination, and I always
expected that I should be happy with 80%-90% success rate, but right now I'm at 1 out of 20! That's 5%
Sun Dec 4 - I moved the seeds that haven't popped yet out of the tent and into the darkness.
- Later one, I notice 2 of those seeds had tap root that were out. About couple of seeds had small
tap roots showing.
- I decided to plant those seeds and any seed where the seed husk had split open, showing the white
tap root.
- So far, I've planted 12 seeds. The other 8 are waiting to see how they turn out.
Mon Dec 5 - I decided to plant the rest of the seeds no matter what they are doing… or not doing…just to see where this goes
- 3 additional seedling popped out of the plugs, making 4.
Tue Dec 6 - There are now 4 seedlings that have risen out of the plugs.
- I'm hoping there will be a few more at the very least.
- I'm very shocked and upset about how things have gone from the get-go with these AK-47 seeds.
- I was look forward to growing this strain, but having only 20% germinate is a very bad start.
Wed Dec 7 - There is now a 6th seedling that's starting to appear.
Thu Dec 8 - There is one more seedling that may have a chance to survive. I'm going to give it a few days.
- I checked out every seed in the plugs are there is no activity. So I assume they will not germinate
at this point.
Fri Dec 9 - There is now a 7th seedling that is trying to pop up. I removed the seed husk. The cotyledons are closed
so I'll if they'll open tomorrow.
Sat Dec 10 - Ok. It's official, I have a 7th seedling…that's 35% germination success. I'm not happy about that.
- I'll probably be moving the seedlings into their grow bags in the next few days.
- I read a study from the University of Albert's Dept of Biology.
bio-protocol3875.pdf
- They were doing a study to find a way to germinate seeds that had both the fastest and highest success rate
- Their study concluded that the seeds, sitting in water with 1% of Hydrogen Peroxide was the fastest and highest
success rate for seed germination.
- I'll be trying that method in the next few days when I germinate 8 Blueberry 420 seeds
- My grow tent will be half AK-47 plants and half Blueberry 420 so I'll be posting 2 grow diaries that are about 2 weeks apart
Tue Dec 13 - I transplanted the seedlings into the grow bags. I sprinkled mycorrhiza powder in the pre-dug hole before putting the plug
with the seedling into it.
- I then watered the plants with ph'd water. About 500 ml per plant.
