Hey growmies! It's time for another grow adventure 🌿 This round I'm growing Purple Haze Automatic that was provided by the @Zammi_official crew. I think that Purple Haze was one of the first strains I smoked when I was young(er). So this kind of feels like full circle, but next level since I get to grow these beauties myself now :)) The THC in this strain is around 16% which is great since I'm currently out of strains to smoke during daytime. Going from the strain description this is a fairly easy strain to grow. But then again, it has sativa genes to overfeeding or too much water can be a problem. So I guess this grow is all about restraint 😅 And luckily I have the Plagron feeding scheme to guide me. I think it's great that Plagron has a grow schedule calculator on their website that just gives you the scheme for exactly the nutrients you need. Very convenient to say the least! More info about the Purple Haze can be found here: https://www.zamnesia.com/8174-zamnesia-seeds-purple-haze-automatic.html And for the Plagron grow schedule calculator: https://tools.plagron.com/en/tools/grow-schedule-calculator Given the heavy competition from growmies like @nonick123 and @DutchFarmer (shoutout) my aim is mostly to have fun this round and not focus on winning 🤗. Looking forward to see how this strain will grow and of course hoping for some beautiful purple buds in 9 weeks from now ✌️ Update: The first three seeds have fully sprouted. There is one other seed that is beginning to sprout. The idea is to keep only the strongest plant(s) for this grow. I have room for max 3 plants in the GTools so it will be exciting to see which of the little ones will make it. The first seed that popped looked promising but now it's just a little weird looking. I moved it to the 'maybe' pot (in the back on the left) and placed seed #2 inside the 11L pot because it just looks better. The third seedling also looks healthy and is now growing in the second 11L pot. I have 2 backup seedlings in case anything goes wrong.

The germination went pretty well this time! Three out of 5 seeds germinated almost instantly and 2 seeds took longer. Since I only have space in my GTools growbox I decided to go ahead with the three seeds that germinated first. The two most promising seedlings are now in an 11L pot, and the third one that looks a bit weird is in the backup pot, in case something happens to the other seedlings. My strategy for this grow is to select only the strongest plant(s). I never threw away a plant before that didn't perform that well, but I want to try this approach and see how it works out. I turned on the clipfan to supply the seedlings with a nice breeze, and also to prevent condense to stick on the leafs. Even though I dimmed the Sanlight to 40% the light is still intense enough to burn the little leafs. More pics will be added in the coming days, stay tuned! 🌿🌿🌿 End of week update The three little Purple Haze plants have grow well in the first week. The plant in the maybe pot is a bit wobbly and keeps tipping over. Looks like the stem is too thin to really support the weight of the leafs. I will give her another week to see if the stem gets stronger. Otherwise I will discard the plant and continue with the two strongest. Coming week I will start by adding Plagron's Sugar Royal to the mix!

The little Purple Haze plants have grown well last week. It's amazing to see! I water them just once a day and I'm trying to pour the water on the side of the pot instead of near the plant. This will encourage the roots to dig down and find the water, developing a good root system. I try to keep the humidity between 65 and 70% for this stage of the grow. I always use water from the de-humidifier in the basement for the humidifier in the growbox. This prevents calcium in the water from damaging the growlight. If you don't have any RO water handy this is a really good alternative. Stay tuned for more pics and updates later this week ✌️ 🌿🌿🌿 Mid-week update So the plant in the spare/maybe-pot really surprised me this week by doing remarkably well compared to the others. She has the largest leafs, looking strong and healthy. It's even more surprising since she had a rocky start and could barely keep herself upright. The plant on the front-left side of the GTools is the smallest. I'm thinking about dropping this plant in favour of the one in the maybe-pot. However I'm a bit worried that I will stress out the plant if I start repotting right now. The take-away for today is 'Never underestimate the ugly duckling' 💪😅

The Purple Haze ladies have grow really well, reaching 10cm by the end of last week. Now that more leafs and side branches are forming I set the dimmer on the Sanlight from 60% to 80%. All in all the plants look very happy and healthy. I'm still in doubt wether to abort the smallest plant in the 11L pot in favour of the plant in the maybe pot which grows much better. On the other hand, I might get away with three plants in the Gtools with some LST or a ScrOG. I will decide what to do before blooming kicks in. The Purple Haze description on the Zamnesia website has a warning that this strain can have the tendency to stretch. I'm happy that these three ladies all have nice and short internodes. If I can keep them at a reasonable height they might just fit in the GTools and create a sea of purple buds :) 🌿🌿🌿 Mid-week update I just couldn't abort any of the plants, they all are doing so well that it felt like a shame to make a choice here. The plant in the maybe-pot now has her own 11L RQS geotextile pot, which was needed as the roots have grown all the way around the sides. Not root-bound just yet, but she has all the space she needs to grow from now on. The Sanlight is now at 100% (135W) and I raised the light a bit to give the Purple Haze some time to adjust to the increased light intensity. You may have noticed I started the Plagron Power Buds feeding already. The included feeding schedule was for 12 weeks, while this strain only takes 9 weeks from seed to harvest. So my guess is that the Purple Haze might be in need for some extra nutrition already. There are no signs of shortages and I'd like to keep it that way ✌️

The Purple Haze ladies have started blooming 🎉 It came earlier than I expected but since these plants only have a lifecycle of 9 weeks they will need all the time they can get. I kind of miscalculated the nutrients in the feeding water. The schedule by Plagron was based on nutrients in 10L feeding water, while I only have 1L of feeding water per round. The plants show no signs of nutrient overdosing but I have now adjusted the nutrition to the correct amount, which is 1ml per liter Sugar and Power buds and 4ml per liter Alga Bloom. To trigger the plant to produce purple buds I will stop heating the growroom. Now when the lights go out the temperature will drop to a minimum of 18 degrees. I hope this will be enough to make the buds turn purple, although it's also a genetics thing. So even with the lower temperatures it's not a 100% certain the buds will go purple. Let's wait and see how it goes! The plants look very healthy and grow really bushy, no stretching. I hope they keep developing this way since the vertical space in the GTools is limited. Sometimes the plants will compete with each other for space resulting in stretching. But for now these ladies get along very well ✌️☘️ Stay tuned for more pics and updates as the week progresses! 🌿🌿🌿 End of the week update Still going easy on the nutrition as the top leafs still have slightly burnt tips. I removed most of the lower leafs and smaller branches to optimize the airflow in the GTools. I don't want to waste energy on the fluffy popcornbuds. Even though the night temperature was around 15 degrees the buds have not started to color purple just yet.

I'm happy to say the Purple Haze ladies are doing very well ☘️ Last week I gave them 50% of the nutrients as two of the plants had slightly burnt leafs. This week I plan to continue to take it easy on the feeding. The plant are growing well and the leafs show no signs of deficiencies so no reason to over feed them. Since last week the plants started growing faster and I had to adjust the growlight two times. I hope the stretch will stop by the end of this week as I don't prefer supercropping. To improve the soil I added a bit of Yuccah to the feeding. Last grow it didn't had much effect on the soil structure, but maybe I started using it too late. So I want to test of it helps when I add it earlier in the grow. Stay tuned for more pics and updates later this week! 🌿🌿🌿 Mid-week update Looking at the new leafs that have grown this week it looks like the nutrient burn is finally over 🙌 I'm feeding the plants only 50% of the perscribed nutrients and it works very well. Making a mental note to myself to take into account that some strains are less hungry than others 😉

Hi Growmies! I'm really happy with the Purple Haze ladies as they're doing very well. After rationing the nutrients for a week or 2 the nitrogen the burnt tips have stopped in the new leafs. The growth is now vigorous and the plants look healthy. At the end of last week the two biggest plants have stopped stretching and starting to focus on their flowers. The plant in the front had a late start so she is still stretching a bit, which is good as she's a bit smaller than her sisters. I hope the vertical growth will stop this week so I don't have to supercrop the ladies. There is still enough vertical space left in the GTools, but it's always good to have some slack. That's all for now. I'll post some more updates and pics later this week so stay tuned ✌️ 🌿🌿🌿 Mid-week update The buds are developing really well on all three Purple Haze ladies. I might want to do some defoliation next week to both give the plants some space to breathe and to shed some light on the lower buds. But looking at where we are now, I'm really satisfied with the result. The plants are healthy and growing well. Let's see how powerful (and hopefully purple 🤞) these buds will become in the coming weeks.

The Purple Haze ladies are growing beautiful buds and the smell is already delicious! This is my first experience with Plagron nutrients, and one thing I notice is that the plants look very lush with no signs of deficiencies. In fact I have to be careful not to overfeed them. I think I have found the right balance at least for this strain. I'm skipping the Sugar Royal for now as it's the only nutrient that contains nitrogen and the plants seem to have enough of that already. This week I'm planning another round of defoliation to give the lower buds some more light. That's all for now, I will post more updates and pics later this week, stay tuned ✌️

Hi Growmies! As you can see in the pics the buds are really starting to fatten up 💪 As this is the first time I'm growing this strain it's hard to tell if it's genetics or the nutrients. But if I compare these buds with previous grows in the same stage, I have to say they're fatter than before. The plants are really thirsty and seem grow fatter every time I open the GTools. The smell is also amazing. The sweet lemon and herbal scent just fills the room. Can't wait to get a taste! The Purple Haze ladies have gotten new neighbours recently. I'm growing magic mushrooms next to the GTools and they just started to fruit, checkout the pics 🍄

Merry Christmas growmies 🎄 I hope you are enjoying the holidays with friends, family and Cannabis ✨😁 The Purple Haze is entering the final stage of bloom. For me this is a great time as the plants are finally at their prime. As you can see in the pictures the buds have grown big and fat. The resin is also covering most of the sugar leafs and even though it's not snowing outside, thing sure look frosty in the GTools 😅 I inspected the trichromes today and most are cloudy, no amber just yet. Going from the strain description this could be the final week before harvest. It would be cool to close off this year with a Purple Haze harvest but as always I let the plant decide when she's ready to be harvested. The pistils are still mostly white, but my main indicator are the trichromes. The two plants in the back are both a bit bigger (and have fatter buds) than the plant in the front. So maybe this one will have to grow for a week longer to reach her full potential. The plan for this week will be just giving just water and no nutrients, lower the temperature and see if I can nudge the ladies in coloring the leafs to a nice purple hue. If they don't it's perfectly ok, I'm happy with how healthy and frosty they look anyway. Let's see what this week will bring us! I just harvested my first flush of shrooms today. These are the Hawaïan Cubensis from the Zamnesia webshop. Chack it out at https://www.zamnesia.com/3484-magic-mushroom-spore-syringes-mondo-psilocybe-cubensis-hawaii.html Even though this was in the smaller monotub I ended up with a 5L mason jar full of beautiful mushrooms ☘️🍄. Stay tuned for more pics and updates as the week progresses and again have a great holiday 🌟

This strain was easy to grow. Germination was really fast, the plant grew vigorous and strong. The growbox was really crowded with three plants on 0.35m2 but they had no mold issues whatsoever. The smell is great, nice and fruity with a gassy taste. The first scissor hash I tried after trimming tasted nice and sweet with a gassy flavor afterwards. The hash gave an uplifting head high which is great as I was looking for an all-day strain that alows me to vape ánd get some work done as well ✌️The only downside I can think of is that the buds didn't turn full purple, but then again they did develop a nice pink glow in the end.

Harvested on New Year's Eve, the timing couldn't be better and what a way to close the final grow of this year ☘️✌️All three plants grew massive and heavy buds full of shiny resin. Because I grew three plants in a small growbox it became a bit crowded in the end. And even after defoliation there was not enough light for the lower branches resulting in a lot of fluffy buds (not included in the wet weight). It's not a problem though as the main colas were absolutely massive. With 882 grams of wet weight we're looking at a very satisfying harvest. The resin production was also more than on previous grows. Especially the lower buds were shining with trichromes. I will definitely make some bubble hash of the sugar leafs and press it into a tasty extract 😍 As Demetri Martin said in his standup "When you see someone sniffing his hand, there's never really a good story behind it". How different this is for Cannabis growers 😅 After trimming for a few minutes the room (and my hands) smelled like gassy candy! The smell is fresh like fruit and a little bit gassy. Due to the excellent nutrients by Plagron the leafs were green until harvest so the real taste will probably reveal itself after a good long cure. The Purple Haze strain proved to be a resilient one as crowded growrooms have a high risk of mold. In this case there was none. Even the buds that grew tightly to the side of the growbox had no mold at all. A big thanks to team Zamnesia for alowing me to try out this wonderful classic strain. I was looking for a strain to use at the end of a day's work or for some extra focus when I need to wrap my head around something complex. After vaping the first scissor hash I knew this was the one. It has a fast hitting but not overwhelming head high while keeping my mind clear. I'll share more details in the upcoming smoke report.

nonick123
nonick123commenteda year ago
Zengrower
Zengrowercommenteda year ago
@nonick123, yeah I plan on doing just that. The excess nitrogen is not flushed away that easy though. I hope the Yuccah helps to improve drainage to flush some of the nitrogen out. We'll see later this week 🤞

nonick123commenteda year ago
Zengrower
Zengrowercommenteda year ago
@nonick123, that's really helpful amigo! Do you test the Ec in the feeding water or in the runoff water after feeding? I will definitely take it easy with the feeding and carefully watch how the plant reacts to it. Thanks for the tip 🙏
