So I ran 3 Blackberry's in total. The seeds were started in a staggered pattern. I was running into soil related issues at the beginning of the grow season, I think I have the issues pretty much worked out now, but these girls suffered through all of it, unfortunately. I got some lovely colors on the plants, really beautiful. But the bud quality in the end just wasn't there. I'll give the Blackberry a try again down the road once I'm more confident I have my soil issues under control. Until then, I learned a lot and nothing will go to waste, trust me! 👍

I didn't really use CalMag from Blue Planet, they just came up on the list. But the plants did seem to like CalMag added to their routine
I'm still not sure if it helps, but it does not hurt.

So I have harvested the 3rd FastBuds BlackBerry as well as the Barney’s Farm NYC Diesel Auto. The Blackberry was very loose and airy with not much density to the buds. Made it difficult to trim without just putting 90% in the trim pile. I had a taste of one of the buds from Blackberry #2 and she was much fruitier/sweeter than this one is. I can still taste some sweetness in #3, but she also tastes bit more harsh than I remember from #2. I yielded 16 gr from the 3rd plant and never weighed the first two, they just went straight to my edibles pile, but I’ll guess they may have yielded another 16 gr combined, which would total 32 gr for 3 plants.

Read a good book over the weekend "Marijuana Cultivation Reconsidered: The Science and Techniques For Huge Indoor Yields" by Read Spear. (read some bad ones too that I won't mention). Any recommendations for good books on cannabis? Looking forward to your answers. Thanks!

I have a small collection - but I am partial to the cannabis bibles 2nd and 3rd editions + the cannabis breeder's bible.... and anything by ed rosenthal will be useful...

I have not been using CO2 but EVERY book I read recommends using it, I’m not prepared to go out and buy a CO2 tank, regulator, etc… at this time. Has anyone ever used one of those CO2 bags? Or do you have any DIY CO2 solutions you can recommend?

Two parts yeast, one part water in a Ten gallon bucket will eventually make enough co2 for a 4x4, diy co2 is cheap and does work but you do need to go big and go bigger than you think lol, but folks over estimate the effectiveness of these "exhale" bags by a lot... And no one calculates how efficient their exhaust is... I actually used tnb in my grow... Wasn't bad at all, co2 definitely helps especially during veg, but only those plants kind of close to the co2 because I had a 1300m3/h exhaust fan going... Co2 is a yes in my books, and I'm not convinced it's a "limiting factor" that it only works when everything is perfect, it does help regardless

Said a little prayer for them... If you plant your cotyledons straight into soil, it's always worth the extra effort to make a little pocket in the center of your container with perlite or vermiculite/perlite mix so that you don't burn your tap root right off the bat. (lessons learned)

U have a bad root problem going on here if u got more seeds i would germ a few more these wont give u nothing out em on your next run i would only give 2-4 ounces of water a day and add calmag ✌️✌️✌️
DudeGrowsWeed
DudeGrowsWeed
@MUDBUG, Thanks for the advice. I did drop a new seed into fresh soil a couple of days ago. But I’m going to keep the survivors going too. At least for now. I’m curious to see how they react after being transplanted into fresh soil. Hopefully they turn around. 🤞

Cut down Blackberry 1 & 2 this morning. #3 is still going strong but should harvest in another 2-3 weeks.

And to ring in on CO2 - think it’s pretty obvious it’s effective but generally most effective in a closed environment. The only reason I haven’t considered it is because I enjoy visiting with the girls daily and catching a whiff👍

@DudeGrowsWeed, lol! Get that but at least you’re running reliable right. HPS is proven whereas the viper spectra I’m running is somewhat lacking - adequate, but lacking and not ideal. Damn price for cobs is Ridonk! Good luck with with it dude.

@TheBudWhisperer, Good suggestions. I’m thinking of going full organic/no-till next. Looking forward to reading “True Living Organic” when it gets here. But a LED light upgrade is definitely high up on my list too. Waiting for my wife to start complaining about the power bill and the HPS (coming soon I predict)

@DudeGrowsWeed, I've got 2 plants in a mix of happy frog and kindsoil 'hotsoil' and they are showing massive Nitrogen burn. My other girl is just in plain happy frog and regular nutrients and is looking great.

@Bloom_Room_By_Jared, No I am not associated with the DGC at all. But I do love their podcast and also love the Recharge. I started here on GD a couple of weeks before I found out about DGC. I’ve considered changing my username but in over a year you’re only the second person to ask.

have u grown blackberry before ? if yes, do all seeds turn this dark ?
DudeGrowsWeed
DudeGrowsWeed
@Reaper, I grew 3 of these Blackberry’s staggered a few weeks between each seedling. All 3 were pretty dark, but the first one was the darkest. 2&3 were about the same as darkness is concerned, but 2 tasted best imo (not sure why)
