This week we had three rainy days at the beginning, then it got dry and warmer again. Due to the cooler temperatures, we didn't have to water much. At the moment, Passion #1 in the foil tunnel has an advantage because it is protected from bad weather and the foil house is slightly warmer than the outside temperature. This is reflected in the better development of the flowers. Mold: none Diseases: none Slugs: none Of course, there are always a few attempts by pests to hijack the plants, but so far without success. Passion #1 : 157 cm Passion #1 in Polytunnel: 151 cm

Is it necessary to defoliate plants growing outdoors in pots or in the garden soil? What I read about this is very contradictory.

There is no straight answer. It depends on the plant and your environment. Like asking if anti freeze is important in a car. If you are somewhere it gets below freezing, probably yes. If not, probably no. It all depends on the humidity and airflow. Plants are only at the pinnacle of evolution for the environment they evolved in. If you remove them from that climate and grow them elswhere, they may do terribly as they are not suited for that climate or environment. Like a polar bear trying to survive in the Sahara, pinnacle predator in the cold, but dead fast in the heat. We are now growing mostly polyhybrids bred for stable indoor climates and sometimes they need some help outside. You need to work out what is best for your environment.

As the temperatures drop, you’ve got the perfect setup to help your plants transition quickly into the flowering phase after those high temps. Fingers crossed that everything plays out well! 🌡️🌸
