Rough week for the Durban, went really yellow and developed some brown spots. The rest of the plants are hanging in there, but just yellow over all. I think I found the problem.... 99% humidity overnight! Its been like that for a while, I should be locked up for neglect 😬 This should answer the question on why the plants were turning pale. My configuration of timers @ *stats was a fail. Turned on the intake/exhaust fans 24/7, plants will get cooler at night. Need an all-in-one Temp and RH meter... to turn on fans - if hot or the RH is like a rainforest LOL Added 2 more Sativas to the tent - Huckleberry and Red Dragon

I think our new setup - 66-83F w/ cold overnight the temps are stunting height. . Lights are currently 2ft above canopy, 3ft Left to go up in tent. When would you flip all these sativa plants, just topped in last few days?

Your plants are doing great for a 2 weeks old seedling. 66 F during lights out will not harm their development. They are not growing up because you TOPed them, they will grow out. I would fill the canopy before switching to flower, which depends on how big is your space.

So... Been noticing last few days paler leaves overall - quickly. Might be paranoid, but thinking a nitrogen a deficiency - added tsp/gal Flora Micro 5-0-1 & PH water. The pale is subtle, but looking for greener pastures. What's plan B? Sorry for Double Post/Question!

Hi @peggyo! This is a normal thing, since those leaves aren't getting enough light to produce chlorophyll, the yellowing will spread and they should fall within a few days. Don't panic, focus on the leaves that are getting light and doing photosynthesis, those bottom leaves aren't much useful anyway, they're dedicated to the lower popcorn nugs. Next time I would recommend to train your plants (more horizontally) and prune those lower nugs which are taking energy for nothing. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing! 👊

Malawi Panama seems like it's gonna go forever! White pistils are dominate, buds are still bulking @ 100f- but trichomes are cloudyish. Leaves are toast. Any harvest advise appreciated ;)

Hi bro, i suggest you dont really look at the hairs/pistils They dont seem to show you exactly when your plant is ready (BUT)- When they start to get read however its a first sign that your plantd are "About" 21 days from harvest but if the thricomes are cloudy Go for the flush!, You are using AN nutrients like me, what i like to do when it comes to flushing i like to do it my own way that i belive is the best. As simple as it sounds... warm water about room temperature no ph up or down needed just straight up, why no ph? PH down has phosphorus in it and some ph down also include nitrogen, and nitrogen and all the nutrients is what we are trying to get rid of when flushing👌 wait untill the leaves yellow give it 48 hours of darkness, and you will have some really dank stuff buddy goodluck!

I'd go by the trichomes, I did a little test my last round and harvested one plant off pistils and the rest on trichome colour. The 'based on pistils' plant was harvested early and was not as good after the cure.

Yeah it’s difficult to determine when apart from one sign-the pistils- the plant is telling you it’s harvest time. Personally, I would listen to the trichomes and forget what the pistils indicate. Those buds look like theyd split in two 😉 If they got any more plump. Plus, you don’t want to be left with dull weed if you wait too long. Chop chop!

Hi Peg, nice choice of strain. ACE has some of the best varieties and qualities of Sativas anywhere. Malawi is no different. Very pure Sativa. It stretches a lot. Use tomatoe cages. 3 or 4 ft in height. Top and widen out branches. At this point ur likely going to have to just hold on and hope they stop growing vertical. Have you heard of Cobbing ? If so you should try it with this harvest :). Only takes 1 oz of bud and it has incredible results. Search up Malawi style Cobbing. Tangwena is the guy who shares the method. Golden Tiger , Panama , Malawi , Zamal , are all home run strains if you like pure Sativas. They can take very long. Some I’ve seen go 16-20+ weeks of flower and still have clear / cloudy trichs. Happy growing peg, best of luck with your Malawi 😎

Hello, Your Plants looking good atm. If they got pale or yellow and die, its because of cannibalising herself. I wont give her Nitrogen in that stage of flower, Its "normal" that plants eating themselves. Nitrogen would slow the Flowering down. Give her some Flowering Fertiliser and blackstrapmolasses. The molasses feed the microbacteria in the soil, so the feeding is better avialable for the plant. Happy growing.

@peggyo,its the stage where the flowers start to bloom until week 2 of booming in that stage its possible to add more N to prevent from cannibalising. its always N and magnesia and calicum that is for the chlorophyll . to find the right dosage not to uverfertilise and to give enough is a little tricky. but its better to have a defiency than to much and yes any fertiliser with P+K works, and bud candy is just sugar... like molasses ... yes sounds goood and use it

@Mrs_Larimar, New strains new challenges ;) Pale coming quick for 23 days, but next feeding with Bloom, Bud Candy, & Big Bud. Good substitutes? Going to keep on keeping on! Durban Purple is showing it's true colors today. BTW Love your grows 😀

you are not kidding! Maybe I'm testing the limits of the vertical space :) Stems are so thick and healthy, I'm past any serious LST at this point - just tuck & trim. 2 Weeks into flower and the pistils are blossoming today. Plant height is 18" above the pot. If I had another 2ft or .6 meters left in this space, do you think that's enough height to finish this grow?

I saw your question and wanna note that in general plants stretch more when day is hot and night is colder, and stay much more compact when the night is warmer. The greater the difference in temps, the bigger the stretch. One agricultural practice is to decrease temps at the start of daytime to below night temps. This causes a similar effect to having warmer nights - bushier plants with less stretch.

Heya! Got some updates on each plant. Durban Poison - Went hermie on me - never a sign, but has seeds lower and top - isolated to another room. Stress from high nighttime RH, flush has started. Old school folks - going to be nostalgic to get out an album cover to roll one. LOL Malawi - Bulking up, was least impacted from RH nighttime f**k up. G13 - Slow going , nice colas are developing NEW ADDITIONS TO TENT: Red Dragon from Barney's Farrm HulkBerry from Royal Queen Seeds Garanimals from DC Bag Seed Overall, 5 Sativa plants at different stages : Durban Poison Hulkberry Red Dragon G13 Haze Malawi Panama Garanimals - Indica & Sativa

>just hold on and hope they stop growing vertical That's the truth! Loving the sturdy stems... but the chicks might think they can handle much more height. >Have you heard of Cobbing? The temps have stabilized, I opened the tent and blacked out the light the best I could. Now the temp swings are a 81f and night 69f. Top leaf temps with lights on are 75f-79f. Flower will be a challenge on light leaks!

Is super cropping before flip a viable solution to height concern? “Note: Since Monsanto owns Botanicare, this is the last grow I will be using these products.” Attagirl! Fight the power 👊🏽

That malawi/panama looks very nice and somewhat similar to some of the plants I've grown. I reckon I have/had something like that too (here in africa). I can't be sure though coz I used random seeds, was incredibly heavy/dense plant with pink/red pistils, massive flowers, well shit, most of my plants are like that (24 sativa dominant randoms), they get pretty large (near 4m for some of my plants with 60cm space in soil, over 2m for 20l pots). But here are some pics of the landrace/possibly panama red hybrid I had: When it was younger: https://growdiaries.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/static/post/photo/19262/917892_african-bagseedscustomsativa.jpg https://growdiaries.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/static/post/photo/19262/917907_african-bagseedscustomsativa.jpg Recently: https://growdiaries.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/static/post/photo/19262/980325_african-bagseedscustomsativa-dominant-hybrids.jpg https://growdiaries.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/static/post/photo/19262/980327_african-bagseedscustomsativa-dominant-hybrids.jpg https://growdiaries.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/static/post/photo/19262/968669_african-bagseedscustomsativa-dominant-hybrids.jpg Took almost 30 weeks before I harvested that plant (it just kept on layering, and I harvested it early due to weather and weight woes), outdoor, uncovered grow. From what I've seen (though I'm not claiming it to be correct or whatever) is that while the plant is showing new growth, it's probably worth letting it grow (considering growing time, yield increase, combination of effects, like inner parts are slightly "cured" so to say, degradation is minimal, since it's covered, etc, it depends on your preferences though). I mean, if you have some amber trichomes, but your plant is still producing new stuff at a good enough rate, I wouldn't let that go to waste, especially with long grows. Just gotta watch out for shit like mildew and keep your temps/RH manageable, maybe the occasional preventative anti-fungal spray/foliar feed (potassium bicarbonate or something like ash/char tea seems good), because some of the sativas tend to get super dense/heavy, but in a more sterile/controlled environment that shouldn't be a big problem. Growing a bunch of plants (about 50 so far). to see how they handle uncovered outdoor winter here, but winter here is likely quite a bit nicer than some other places. The first batch should be tough enough now (been about 4 weeks, they look good) for a while, dunno about more recent plants.
