Hey all, its been a neat and educational week for this indoor grow.
I've learned the importance of LST and the need to do at least some early on when the plants still pliable. Especially if you have limited space like i did. When you're working with a 2x2x4 tent that's leaving a lot of room for growth to happen and then the space getting all used up. So either when buying equipment or setting up plants, plan for how much space you might need.
I moved up my LED as high as it can go but that still only left about 9 inches of available space between the light and canopy. Naturally I'm seeing some signs of light stress coming on slowly.
She's still receiving the low feeding of fox farm nutrients and is handling it well.
From having her top broken off I'd say she's really not looking too bad. I'm sure the yields will decrease but a small price to pay for remembering to be more careful and plan ahead. Her pistils have swollen nicely and I'm slowly seeing some slow color change in them as well. The end of the week photos definitely had much more orange hairs appear. And now we wait and try not to cause any catastrophic damage.
Happy growing everyone.βοΈ
Hey everyone....
So i sort of snapped a main stem, The Main Stem. Yikes it was awful.
Any tips on attempting to piece plant parts back together? Miracle juices or anything like aloe vera?
Any advice helps thank you all.
When it happens to me I support the stem with a stick and if it's not enough I use tape to keep the stem straight during recovery. If the stem is really almost broken then use both tape and sticks or cut it once and for all to make An auto clone but it is more funny than useful. Concerning what you can give to her I think aloe Vera can be a good stuff as it contain a lot of trace elements and even more , I use it on my skin injury to recover faster so maybe it works the same on ganja π€
This is my first indoor grow, is there anything different i should be doing at harvest, other than just chopping it down like with outdoor? What's with the putting plants in the dark for 24+ hours before chopping?
@Experimentgreen, it's not that difficult. like you said, you waited to long to tie her down.
it's all about the right amount of tension. you should practice on a regular or feminized one.
when you mess up (in veg) you can just let it grow back.
if i ever do an autoflower i will only top it once right before it go's to flower.
and maybe scrog, that's it. try to keep it simple in the beginning.
peace!
Hi i really dont know if there is apositive effect of putting the plant on a "darkcycle" i tried it one time , and the oly thing i had was mold after 24 hours
@Experimentgreen, @budrick - thank god someone else feels my pain - I miss the outdoor season like crazy! Couldnβt help but notice the thread re: reduced light cycle - I tried this a couple years ago and the only discernible difference I found was a lower yield. If ur just straight experimenting cool, but I wouldnβt expect a grow revelation if u know what I mean. Just an FYI cuz I donβt wanna see either of you burn a bean unnecessarily. Good luck either wayπ
You're doing well. First grows are tough. Don't worry about the top breaking off, my first grow I got bud rot in the tent (power kept cutting out and humidity/temp spiked). I had to cut the tops off over 1/2 my plant and I even cut cola's in 1/2. They are strong plants, she put that extra energy into the remaining cola's and those swelled more.
Relax you're doing great.
@NomNom, pssshh honey i need all the support and encouragement I can get. None of those things matter...some of the truly badass growers I've met here don't worry one second over trophies and what not. I'm glad I'm not alone. Plus most of those likes were from growing big outside plants that took 28 weeks...anyone can collect over that many weeks. I'm cool being a newbie.π
@Experimentgreen,Sorry I'm such a retard. I was just going looking through the "Diaries" page and saw your post as "1st indoor" and the picture. I read through the diary and thought I'd say some nice encouraging words of support because I thought you were a newbie. I was having issues a few months ago and I thought I'd let you know you're not alone with the issues. I didn't look at your profile so I didn't realize you have a million likes and a bunch of trophies. Now I feel like a goof π
@NomNom, serious, mine did that too. My 99.9% sunshine diary, i got 12 ounces out of with nonstop chaos which was cool...but it had an odd twang to it too. Maybe my drying and curing methods are off...or switching from fox farm to remo half way through. I'm going to try to keep its as chemical free as possible this year on the outdoor and see if there's a difference.
I'd be content not dealing with the legal guys at all....unfortunately I don't see everything they're using and doing so I'm much happier to do home grown. Even if it's the schwaggiest stuff there ever were, i still get to take ownership over it.π
That makes two of us who make catastrophic mistakes!
There are so many factors inside you don't worry about outside, but also vice versa!
You need to find your daily grind inside! But i'm sure you will man ;-)
@Budcrack, this plant didn't manage to yield much lol but it did show me how to work out the kinks...i think i have my space a little bit more under control. Thanks for all the support. βοΈ
@Experimentgreen, What i said earlier bro, autoflowers have a fixed cycle and retarding or stunning them causes a lot of problems. You are right about the learning curve, and also trough the eyes of the beholder of your diary, a diary where nothing goes wrong is nice but also not much to be learned! It's only trown away time if you trow in the towel. See you next week! π
@Budcrack,Oh yes...the cold may make me go plant homicide at any moment! So watch your gardens everyone. ππ€£
omg you did not just drop a comic slam on my diary! πππβοΈhaha I love it.
@CRiSPrGrow, like mycorrhizal fungi? Or beneficial insects? I try letting the spiders eat the bugs they want outside, but i definitely need to up my pest management system for this spring/summer
@Experimentgreen, first off merry christmas EG ! , second of all, have you considered what i call biological warfare ? using special bacteria to fight those pests? i'm doing that now, great results - hit me up i'll show you what i mean lol
Playing god inside sees a lot less pest issues than having to bow down to god outside! Lol. For a 1 gal. Pot she looks real impressive and would be interested to follow what you could do with a larger pot indoors EGπ. All the best to the chop my friend - she be a fine lookn lady ππ.
@TheBudWhisperer, i totally agree. I've git 2 sour stompers in 3 gal pots vs the 1 gal in this one. And they got put under the led earlier and they were much bigger and bushier...we'll see how they compare in the end.
@Experimentgreen, my problem is always with plant count - each one needs to make it for the sake of the stash inventory so when it comes to autos I keep it super simple with basic lst and defo. Some people do some pretty awesome things with autos but higher stress training is always gonna be a little risky with any plant on a genetic time limit. PersonaL opinion: mistakes happen, ditch the screen, go light on clippβn the green and next oneβll be a monsterπππ
@TheBudWhisperer, Thanks doll you're sweet. She'd have been much sweeter if i hadn't have gone mad weed whacker and broker her top half off lol. I might have some 5/7/15 gallon pots waiting their turn.π But i need my design skills to get better, or figure out how to use a screen.
@TheBudWhisperer, @experimentgreen actually i said that then immediately went and did the bend on all my plants lol π pray for yield : i'm digging that main cola EG ! gonna get a harvest out of these at least right ?
@CRiSPrGrow, @experimentgreen - so true Bulbi. I grew out a cheese auto last year with extreme lst and it was a disaster. Thought I was being cute/artistic and ended up burning an awesome bean on what yielded out to less than half an oz.... just cuz I didnβt let er grow.
Heey man looking good, i agree on leaving them alone when theyre this young. I just do a few mistings a day since i dont have a humidifier but thats pretty much it. I would reccomend using other cups that arent see through. Because of the contact of the light algue can appear in your soil and give ph fluctuations and root rot. You can always cover the cups with something like aluminium foil or something. Goodluck man!! I think im going with Fantasmo Express in the next run :D
@ArucambaAutoflowers297, so true! I started seeing a little tinge of green on some of the perilite! I need to transplant or maybe put a sock or something around the cup. I just never have solo red cups laying around so they never get used...i must need to keep a small stock
hate blurple as well and just picked this up - https://www.rapidled.com/cxb3590-2-x-4-grow-kit/ - a little cheaper option than bulbiβs but half the size too. Tired of the crappy pic resolution and alien glow! Lol
Shitty buzz but ya live, learn, move on, yadda, yadda, yadda. Far as Iβm concerned it happens to the best of us girl! Hereβs to hoping she pulls through it and stays strong for the rest of the stretch!π€
It's not as hard as your making it... Water with food, light, you need to move some air.... And don't let it get too hot When you get all those things perfect it's easy... π remember it's a weed. π π€£π€£π€£π€£
@OutForReal, I've heard my climate here in nevada is comparable to Afghanistan....odd but my brother and other military persons have all said that. I'm fairly high elevation...but very low moisture through the year. There's not much that grows wild here except sage brush, pine trees and a few other things that can survive on scorching summers dry air and pretty chilly winters.
The new light will only help if i stop abusing my plants to the breaking point. (Literally....i snapped the bigger plants top clean off the other day! ) yikes.
I'm glad your grandpa has at least you...if he didn't he might have no one, that'd be worse than bearing the burden alone. Old people are cool too..so enjoy his company however you can.
Thanks for the GOTM congrats...I'm the 2nd loser. Lol I'm always stuck in 3rd it seems haha.π
@Experimentgreen,Edit : I was just thinking that the word ganja is mostly used where the cannabis is sativa dominant. Not like it's important bit I was thinking about it
@Experimentgreen, That's Pretty much what my buddy does it great! But sometimes I will work for him here and there when he needs it and I have him pay me with store credit π
@Thee_HoffGuyy, really! Ugh you lucky dog. I'm a bit jealous. Fortunately the boys who run my local one are very nice and they give a locals discount...but that's the best i can hope for.π
@Experimentgreen, Yeah I kno what you mean there I'm lucky enough to have a good friend that owns a hydro shop an like you said he carries everything haha. and I could imagine it would take a good amount of practice to dial it in. great work on it it looks like some nice productππ just from looking at it made me have to hit some of the oil It looked so similar to a batch i just made the otha dayπ
@Experimentgreen, Really? I never knew that it always makes me happier when I'm in it as well!!π Yeah me to the weather is finally getting Spring like I love it! yeah do half an half is pretty fun it amazing how quick the roots grow in the hydro.
@Thee_HoffGuyy, did you know that soil has natural endorphins in it? Lol when i heard that I realized why i must be so happy playing in the dirt. I can't wait for the outdoor season to start...
That's cool with the dwc....I'm not brave enough to give that a go yet. Maybe in a few seasons.π I think doing a 1/2 1/2 would be fun to watch.
@Experimentgreen, There you go!π The first harvest is always so fun in anything new!! I'm about to finish up my First harvest in RDWC I've done a little hydro before but have only done Flood table and a single bucket DWC. And i have always liked growing in soil better. well now i think my tent will be half an half now!! i did a test run and put a clone straight from the cloner into the bucket system and wow it surprised me!!! Anyways Nice grow it looks beautiful I can't wait to hear the smoke report!!π I'll be looking forward to your next grow!
Do whatever works for you. I used to use root Riot cubes exclusively. Now I am back to the good old trusty paper towel in a plastic bag trick for germination lol.
If you find a way that doesn't work that is a lesson just a valuable as finding a way that does work in the long run. π
@Experimentgreen, Seeds went straight into the cubes. 60-90% success rate I would say which is fine with bag seed but when paying good money for seeds or you don't have many etc nothing less than 100% is what I want lol. 9 times out of 10 the cubes would successfully pop the seeds open but from there only 6-9 of 10 would make it to "seedling" stage
@Green_Friends_Inc, oh so true, I probably learned much more from my failures this summer than any stuff that went right lol. Did you put the seeds straight into the riots or did you germinate first ?
@TheBudWhisperer, it's all trial and error....but the main thing press fresh. Don't press the year old trim that's been sitting in a glass jar getting crispy...it acts like a sponge and releases and then absorbs the rosin. βοΈ
@CRiSPrGrow, oh you're not allowed to leave....you put the handcuffs on when you stole my training bra. Hahaha
But thank you.π chopped another 1 down last night...gotta deal with the last today or tomorrow.
