Given the opportunity to grow some of the most exciting and exotic strains, what would you do? Well I jumped at the chance when Patricia @Zamnesia reached out to me. Now that they are shipping to USA and Canada I can enjoy some of the same flavorful and power packed strains grown by my European friends. This grow for me is one of 2 sponsored by @Zamnesia Seeds.
I am growing Sunset Sherbet Auto and Frosted Guava Auto (separate diary). Below I share with you one amazing strain I selected. I'm eager to grow Sunset Sherbet as it is well balanced, has a sweet fruity flavor profile , which I love. I hope I can achieve a nice color profile with her in this grow.
I will be using organic soil amendments and organic fertilizer.
Happy Frog Amended with earth worm castings, dolomite lime powder, perlite, Elm Dirt Ancient soil. When it phases to flower, I'll top dress with bloom soil also from Elm Dirt. Liquid nutrients may also be used.
Thank you Patricia.for this opportunity.

9/3 day 5 showing issues in new leaves (frosted Guava also showing this) so I transplanted to 3 gal air pot.
9-4 day 6 new leaves appear normal. maybe issue resolved
9-5 day 7 damage on first leaves is using itself up.
I'm only giving water ph 6.5. I had the seedling in a 4in pot in seed starting medium after germinating in paper towel. Once I saw distress in the first true leaves, I suspected ph issues with the seed start medium so I transplanted to happy frog amended soil.

The transition to my new grow has been chaos. After reading the events of the last week you too will shake your head in disbelief, but honestly friends you can’t make this stuff up.
After germination on 8/30 Sunset was transplanted to her final 3 gallon pot on 9/3 because her early true leaves were brown on the ends which I attribute to the ph of the seed medium. I also cleaned and disinfected the AC Infinity 4X4 for this new grow.
The Frosted Guava that germinated on the same day did not make the transition. I started her replacement seed on 9/8 followed by germination on 9/12. The babies are starting in the 3x3.
Meanwhile, new fans arrived from AC infinity to replace the fans that weren’t working correctly. One fan made clicks when it rotated and the other did not rotate at all. These new models needed a different splitter than what I was using. Ordered that, now wait for the splitter. A splitter from Amazon arrived quickly and I moved the new gals into the 4x4 tent. Since I’m using controller 69, I set the program to seedlings which has high VPD. The following morning, moisture vapor was seeping out of the tent through the zipper as well as the controller port. It was basically raining in the tent with about 1.5 gallons of was on the floor. Clean up on aisle 2. While I was mopping the tent, the lights were flickering on and off. I just knew the electronics were fried. I reported the situation to AC Infinity. Working through each step determined that the lights were not impaired by the moisture. With each step, areas that could have been the issue were eliminated. Aha..The vent motor was burned out. They are sending a replacement. (note: AC Infinity is very responsive and at no charge to me, replaces malfunctioning equipment). My babies are back in the 3x3 until the new vent arrives.
But wait! There’s more! While all the issues with the 4x4 were going on Sunset Sherbet and Frosted Guava were in the 3X3. 9/13 The day after Frosted Guava germinated soil, I opened the tent only to find hundreds of bugs on the floor clustered in corners and in puddles (drippings from wet towel). I took the pots outside and flushed them with about 3 gallons of well water. Sprayed the tent with diluted vinegar water, wiped up the bugs then wiped the floors, and walls with alcohol and put the gals back in the 3x3 tent. It’s not over yet. 9/17 open the tent with more bugs on the floor. That did it.
Another transplant for both gals into brand new Happy Frog soil without any amendments. I put the gals on crates and put a humidifier in the tent until I move them to the 4x4. Autoflower plants do not like transplanting so I hope they have not suffered.
To help alleviate stress, I provided a light feed with Plant juice.

Pics 9/22, 26, 27
9/22 This week I’ve watered with ph 6.65 water only Sunset received 250-550ml water every 2-3 days.
I’ve been monitoring for any stretch so I would have room to top my plants but as the pics show the nodes are less than ½ inch apart. I’ve been watching @XII_XII_MrGreen demonstrate the pinch, twist and leave a stub technique for topping. I’ve also been watching @yan402 topping by cutting the tops with scissors also leaving a stub.
9/26 Sunset’s big, big day. Sunset got the best spa day a girl could ask for. She got topped, defoliated of covered bud sites and LST pinned down. Due to the lack of space, and unsteady hands, I chose to top Sunset Sherbet using scissors. Thank you, Yan and Mr. Green for your thorough demonstrations of training techniques and tolerating my endless questions.
Lots of pics today that show where I cut the top off right at the base but the stub below that is for short. I did not FIM her, yay. After the cut, I applied Manuka honey to the open wound and pinned her short little stems down using copper pins. Poured 1ltr water around edge of pot to start the increase of watering cycle.
9/27 a few pics after topping. Sunset is happy with her new look and with the extra water given gave her a push of growth overnight (seen in the topped crown).
Thank you friends for the visits, likes and comments, I appreciate all the plant love💚.

Week 4 9/29-10/5
This week I’ve watered with ph 6.2-6.5 a with ppm 410-431.
I have to ph down my tap water but by adding recharge and Elm Dirt the ph dropped into the 5Ph range so I had to add some ph up to bring it into the mid 6ph range.
I’ve increased water to 1.5 ltrs ever other day since I topped her last week. She is very robust and recovered from topping, defoliation and LST. She was growing at a slant filling only ¾ but now with additional pinning the new growth, the top is full.
From the pics you can see she filled out the top of the pot.

What a week it has been for me. I had a birthday, eye surgery and my bathroom renovation started. Despite all this, I did 3 LST training sessions on her. After a day without water and before I water/feed I did the LST and defoliation.

Sunset Sherbet is showing some nutrient deficiencies even though I’ve been following the feeding recommendation on the Elm Dirt fertilizer. This time I increased both to 6 tbsp/gal. This brought the ppm from 250 to 637. Hopefully this will resolve the deficiencies.
She is showing the first signs of stretch, and her limbs are stiffening. I’m using a 3 gallon pot. A 5 gallon would have more surface area for a wider tie down area. The result of a smaller area is that the stretch of the taller limbs resulted in a cake top appearance. Center is lower and flat and the outer rim is higher like candles on the perimeter.
Nutrients:
Eggshell water 1 tbsp I made the egg shell water by drying egg shells in the oven, then pulverizing it in the food processor to make powder. Dissolve 1 tbsp egg shell to 1 c vinegar. Soak for 2 weeks. Dilute 5:1 before using. Can be added to liquid fertilizer or used as a foliar spray. I was expecting the PH of the finished product to be highly acid

Using these organic fertilizers, the ppm remains very low for this strain. However, Sunset Sherbet seems to be improving with the increased feed solution.

10/27-11/2 week 8
This week was all about defoliation and LST for Frosted Guava and Sunset Sherbet. Both these Zamnesia strains are similar in that they have numerous small leaves and many, many of them. The data sheet recommends regular maintenance, and defoliation is not a quick task. Speaking of tasks, this grow has been entirely manual in my 3x3 tent. I have to refill the humidifier daily and reduce the lighting periodically because sometimes it gets in the upper 80s and the humidity gets too high for the gals in flower.
Last week I said Sunset Sherbet stems were stiff and didn’t want to tie the limbs down for fear of breaking. Well against better judgment I tried anyway using bamboo BBQ skewers. Pics show I split the main stalk which I repaired by coating the wound with manuka honey, left some of the qtip fibers in the split, and taped it with electrical tape. This really is stressful on the plant and I expect harvest will be delayed.

Based on Zamnesia data on Sunset sherbet, harvest should have been 60 days from seed. That would have been 11/8 last week but the trichomes didn’t show any amber. I’ve started flushing with water between 6-7ph and did a little defoliation.

11/24-30 week 12
Welcome to week 12 of my Sunset Sherbet journey sponsored by Zamnesia. This is the last look for Sunset Sherbet before chop. We are experiencing a very cold snap with nights in the 20f-30f and days only in the 40f. I decided to take advantage of the cold and move her from the tent and put her in the garage in hopes of bringing out some colors. I’m only giving water phd’ to 6.6. Water temp is in the low 50s, light is filtered thru the window. All her trichomes look milky so next weekend she will be chopped.

Welcome to Harvest week of my Sunset Sherbet journey sponsored by Zamnesia. Sunset Sherbet has been in the garage this week just chilling. Temperatures outside were 25-37f at night and in the garage 40-50s and flushed for 4 days with 2-3 liters each day. The cold weather did not do much for color change. Weeks of colder weather would have had an impact. I harvested her 12/5, day 101 from germination in the soil. I got some good trichome pics earlier this week.
Sunset Sherbet grew in my small 3x3. She demonstrated a strong resistance to mold, bud rot and pests. I switched to an organic nutrient feeding solution and kept trying to get my ppms in the range of synthetic fertilizers. This resulted in overfeeding which burned up her leaves. She would have been pretty based on the colors I see in the buds-pinks, purples and oranges.
Plant structure – Sunset Sherbet remained short at just 20 inches. This would make her very good for small closet grows. She had many branches off the main stalk and her nodes were tight. There were many, many small leaves, not much bigger than a quarter.
Data sheet advised of regular maintenance. Trimming will be a bit tedious as a result of not defoliating more.
Sunset Sherbet grew without difficulty or issues. Produced a nice outcome. Wet weight 384g.
