🌿 Triple Trouble: BioBizz, Green House Feeding & Advanced Nutrients in a duel
Hey everyone! 😊
I hope you all find the title fitting for my upcoming grow, which I’ll be starting soon.
In my past grows, I've been using BioBizz with my tap water. Some runs turned out great (especially with the S.A.D. strain 🌿), while the current grow has been a bit mixed. This time, though, I’m ready to try something totally new! I’ll be using three plants of the same strain but with three different fertilizers – BioBizz, Green House Powder Feeding, and Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect Sensi. 🚀🌱✨
They are slowly entering the veggie phase 😍
So far only tap water with root juice.
Since today we are in the vegi phase and the fertilization will start next week.
Today I would like to tell you something about my new “toy” (Ecowitt GW1200 +WH51).
I read something in the forum about a soil moisture sensor that is IoT capable.
I was curious and of course had to buy it... 😄
Works really surprisingly well, I tested it beforehand with a small test setup.
Up to 8 sensors can be connected to the gateway and theoretically home automation would also be possible.
What I particularly like:
Battery status display
History with graph
Freely adjustable alarms
Access via internet and browser and of course app
Plugs to cover the LEDs
This is not intended as advertising, but I thought I'd explain in detail before people ask what these parts are
Please note that all three plants receive different fertilizers:
BioBizz#1 -- BioBizz scheme
GHF#2 -- Greenhouse Feeding Scheme
AN#4 -- Advanced Nutrients Scheme
Had let plants #1 and #2 dry out a little too much as you can see from some of the leaves.
Otherwise I am quite happy with the development so far.
Week 3 Update
Day 18 (VT18):
The nutrient comparison has been running for a week now. While it's too early to draw conclusions about plant performance, the effort required for preparing the irrigation water is clear: GHF is the quickest, followed by BioBizz, and Advanced Nutrients takes the most time.
The new pots are amazing—no water leaking out the sides during watering, and the zipper feature for moisture control is a game-changer!
Attaching today’s pictures along with a poll for your input.
Cam Check Issue:
While away, I noticed on the cam that GHF#2 has started curling its lower leaves. It’s well-watered, treated identically to BioBizz#1. Should I repot with fresh soil?
Day 20 (VT20) – GHF#2 Emergency:
As the title suggests, GHF#2 is in serious trouble.
I’ve ruled out overwatering, tap water issues, CalMag deficiency, and soil quality. BioBizz#1, which received the same treatment, is fine. The only variable is the GHF nutrients added during repotting:
2g GHF BioBloom per liter
1g GHF Enhancer per liter
Symptoms: All fan leaves are curling from the bottom upwards, while shoots remain unaffected. Unsure what’s causing this, I replaced the substrate entirely with BioBizz LightMix and skipped any additional nutrients for now.
The discarded #3 plant was on the windowsill but has been returned to the tent as a backup. It’s looking rough but might be better than losing GHF#2 entirely. Unfortunately, this development jeopardizes the nutrient comparison for GHF, as I’m confident it’s not overfertilization.
Let’s see if GHF#2 recovers in LightMix. If it does, the issue was the nutrients.
Day 23 (VT23):
BioBizz#1: Thriving as expected, consistent with past grows using BioBizz.
GHF#2: Still struggling, with all fan leaves curling. Growth is significantly slower than the others.
AN#4: Incredible growth and root development—roots are visible everywhere after just five days.
Unfortunately, GHF#2's condition has worsened: curling is now spreading to the shoots, moving from the bottom upwards. Growth has stalled almost entirely over the past four days.
Next Steps:
GHF#2 is likely beyond saving. I may replace it with #3, though its week on the windowsill has stunted its growth. Catching up to AN#4 seems unlikely. I’m considering moving BioBizz#1 alongside AN#4 in the main tent, while #3 gets 1-2 weeks in the smaller tent.
However, I’m unsure if #3 should remain with GHF nutrients. It hasn’t been fed yet, and starting an organic regimen this late might not work.
Side Note: My girlfriend insisted on saving #3—seems like fate played a hand, and so far, she’s been proven right! 😅
Attaching updated pictures for your insights.
Week 4 Update – Progress and Adjustments 🌱
It’s been another eventful week in my grow tent! Here’s how things are shaping up:
GHF#2 Update:
I decided to let GHF#2 go and followed the community's advice to rename #3 to AN#3. I’ve been preparing my osmosis water with CalMag Xtra, bringing the EC to 0.35, and adding nutrients to reach a total EC of 1.2.
AN#3
This plant has been a challenge from the start, struggling with deformed cotyledons and unusual leaf patterns. However, there’s finally some good news! The roots are healthy and reaching the pot’s edges, and growth is picking up steadily. Adjusting the pH and nutrients seems to have helped a lot.
BioBizz#1
I’ve moved this one to the larger tent, and it’s been performing well despite a slightly yellowish tint. It’s now on its way to flowering (currently at BT2). Unfortunately, the usual CalMag deficiency has reappeared, even with 1.3ml/L CalMag and 0.05g/L Epsom salt in the feed.
AN#4
This plant is thriving with no visible deficiencies, drinking 1L per day. However, I noticed pre-flowering signs while still on an 18/4 light schedule. Has anyone else experienced this with photoperiod plants? Otherwise, everything looks great, and I’ve been feeding it at an EC of 1.5.
Container Size Feedback
I’ve realized that 9L pots are a bit too small for my setup. I’m watering 3L every two days now, and I believe 12-15L pots would be ideal for future grows.
Timelapse Recovery!
For AN#3, I identified a potential issue with the pH of the drain water—it was as low as 5.3 after its first feeding with Advanced Nutrients. Before that, it only received plain tap water. I’ve corrected this with pH-adjusted water (6.6) and nutrients at an EC of 0.9. You can see its steady recovery in the timelapse!
Overall, things are coming together, and I’m excited to see how the plants perform in the coming weeks. Thanks for following along!
Another week down, and here’s where things stand:
BioBizz#1
This plant is now showing the first signs of nitrogen deficiency on its lowest leaves, even though I’m already feeding 120% of the Grow nutrient according to the schedule. It’s something I’ll keep monitoring closely.
AN#4
Still no visible deficiencies here! This one is thriving, and I’ve included a comparison photo in the gallery to showcase its progress.
AN#3
This plant continues to improve steadily, and due to space constraints, I’ve decided to send it into flowering as well. Let’s see how it performs moving forward! 😅
Week 6 Update – Stretch Madness! 🌿
Things are going really well—maybe a little too well! 😅 The stretch has been insane, with the plants reaching 80cm in height and still growing. Honestly, they can stop anytime now!
I’m currently watering 3.5L every 36 hours to keep up with their needs.
BioBizz#1 – BT15
Everything looks good so far, but I checked the runoff and noticed a pH of 7.5. Not exactly ideal, considering my feed water has a pH of 6.7 without adjustments. Something to keep an eye on.
AN#4 – BT15
I’ve reached 100% of the feeding schedule with an EC of 2.5, and she’s handling it like a champ. Since bumping up the nutrients, she’s taken off and even overtaken BioBizz#1 in growth.
AN#3 – BT11
She’s been getting an EC of 2.1 for the past few days and seems to love it. At this rate, she’s going to outgrow my tent soon! 🙂
Week 7 Update – Recovery and Growth 🌿
Sorry for the late update—I was completely out of commission the past few days 🤢, but luckily, my girlfriend stepped in and took care of the plants.
The good news? The stretch is finally over! But note to self—never again 9L pots for plants this size! 😅
BioBizz#1 – BT23
Despite a “drain” pH of 7.8, she’s doing okay overall. However, this will be my last run with BioBizz. While I’ve managed the CalMag issue this time, Advanced Nutrients has completely won me over. AN#4 has thicker stems and looks more vigorous, and AN#3 bounced back quickly with AN nutrients.
AN#4 – BT23
She’s praying to the light every day and is officially the largest and healthiest plant I’ve ever grown—no deficiencies so far! 😍
AN#3 – BT19
I had to defoliate heavily, but you can barely tell. Height is becoming a challenge, so I’m hoping it just barely fits—because it has to! 😅
Week 8 Update – Height Issues and Frosty Buds 🌿❄️
No major complaints this week—everything is under control, except for the height of AN#3… but Supercropping to the rescue! 😅
BioBizz#1 – BT30
She’s now using less water, managing 3L every 3 days. Bud development is steady, but compared to AN#4, she’s noticeably less frosty.
AN#4 – BT30
This is officially my best and strongest plant so far—super frosty, even on the large fan leaves! 😍 She’s also down to 3.5L every 3 days and thriving.
AN#3 – BT26
Not performing as well as the others, mainly due to the light distance. At times, there’s only 4cm clearance from the lamp! She’s definitely not loving it, but I’ve managed to keep things under control with Supercropping.
I have to admit, the stretch on this strain caught me off guard, and I’m not entirely happy about it. 😅
Week 9 Update – Pushing Limits 🌿
Everything is running as it should, but AN#3 is completely maxed out—there’s no more room left in the tent. One thing is clear, though: the difference in stem thickness between BioBizz#1 and AN#4 is striking, likely due to Rhino Skin. AN#4 is also developing a gorgeous layer of frost as expected. ❄️
BioBizz#1 – BT35
The CalMag issue is fully under control now—she’s getting 140/40 and shows no visible deficiencies anymore. Overall, she’s in great shape!
AN#4 – BT35
There’s a minor calcium deficiency visible on one leaf, but at this stage, it’s not a concern. Advanced Nutrients CalMag Xtra is doing its job well at 1ml/L.
EC: 2.4
pH: 6.5
Drain: pH 6.1 (EC not measurable due to organic soil).
AN#3 – BT31
She’s lagging slightly behind the others, though she should be further along. This is due to suboptimal conditions—she’s far too close to the light, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Supercropping is nearing its limits, but thankfully, vertical growth has almost stopped!
EC: 2.4
pH: 6.5
Drain: pH 6.1 (EC not measurable due to organic soil).
Week 10 Update – Full Throttle with Advanced Nutrients 🌱
I’m now feeding 100% of the Advanced Nutrients schedule with all components. I noticed a slight calcium deficiency in the AN plants, so I’ve increased the base nutrients from 75% to 100%. Advanced Nutrients CalMag Xtra remains at 1ml/L, and it has been reliable throughout the grow with 0 EC osmosis water.
BioBizz#1 – BT42
The trichome ripeness is mixed—there are both amber and clear trichomes, so it’s not quite consistent yet. CalMag issues show up occasionally, but nothing that’s throwing me off balance—she’s doing fine! 🤞
AN#4 – BT42
She’s asking for a bit more calcium here and there but continues to dominate BioBizz#1 in terms of development.
EC: 2.5
pH: 6.4
Drain: pH 6.1 (EC not measurable due to organic soil).
AN#3 – BT38
This plant is visually about 2 weeks behind the others. The space between her and the lamp is down to 1-2cm—a disaster, but there’s nothing I can do at this point. PPFD is off the charts (1200), but she’s handling it and developing beautiful buds. Big respect to this strain—the stretch was no joke!
Humidity is well under control at
Week 11 Update – Harvest Time Approaching! 🌱✂️
BioBizz#1 – BT51
She’s done! She hasn’t had any water for the past five days and will be harvested later this week.
AN#4 – BT51
She still needs a little more time—probably another 1-2 weeks before she’s fully ready.
AN#3 – BT47
Somehow, she’s managing despite the extremely close distance to the light. I haven’t held back on PPFD at all, but she’s handling it like a champ. Super curious to see what kind of yield she’ll bring in! 😅
Week 12+13 Update – Final Harvest & Reflections 🌱✂️
First off, sorry for the late update—super busy at the moment!
This will likely be my last report for now. I’ll still share the final results, but after that, I’m taking a break.
BioBizz#1 – BT59
Harvested, and as expected, a disappointing yield—typical for BioBizz.
Final weight: 71.88g
AN#4 – BT65
As expected, the biggest plant in the grow! This grow confirmed that I’d stick with Advanced Nutrients in the future.
Final weight: 163.88g
AN#3 – BT64
This grow was an experiment in 60x60x120cm, and let’s just say—not recommended!
Zero height control, only 2cm clearance from the LED.
Somehow, she survived. Now I’m super curious about the final yield!
Final Thoughts
Advanced Nutrients proved superior, and BioBizz didn’t impress me.
Stay tuned for the final numbers from AN#3! 😏
