Hey,
I'm trying new strains; two of them are auto, all feminized. Growing alongside diverse vegetables and aromatics.
Planning to try LST and re-pot them later in 9L airpots.
Currently water them twice a week and add nutrient every other watering.
I use a 600W LED lamp I bought two years ago; not sure about specs. AFAIK, it works fine for veg and flo stages.
I have a pair of small 20W fans, that I'll clip somewhere in the next weeks.
Light schedule is 18-6. Room is closed but I open the window a couple hours a day to let air flow.
I'll gladly take advices if you feel like giving some.
Not sure what else to say; wish me luck :)
Plants grows slowly, but everything's good so far :)
Added a fan in the back to blow some air and help stems getting stronger later on.
According to Fox Farm feeding schedule, I'll add some Grow Big (6-4-4) to the nutrient solution for next watering.
Uneventful week.
Plants were not too happy after I repotted them; I spotted what looked like mild nutrient burn on some leaves and they were getting droopy (too much water imo). Everything seems fine now.
I should have tied them up already but can't find any wire, so I ordered some ties. Hope it'll not be too late.
As usual, feel free to give me your input or any advice.
Have all a great week !
Still growing.
Haven't got my ties yet, so no LST for now. I don't know for sure if it still matter at this point; stems are rather strong and will be hard to bend.
Anyway, plants looks happy, especially the snow ryder :)
I have a question if someone read this : One of these plants doesn't come from an auto seed; what should I do regarding light schedule ? I was thinking switching to 12-12 in ~2 weeks but I'm afraid it will hurt auto's yield in the long run :/
Thanks for reading; have a good week !
Finaly received my ties and started LST about 3 days ago. Seems about right.
Snow Ryder is about to start flowering, so I'm on the lookout to switch light schedule for the early skunk (not auto).
Have all a great week !
Snow Ryder is flowering, and by looking to others plants, I'd say it's a good time to switch to 12/12, for the regular one to start flowering too.
I should have started LST sooner, so they'd be more bushy, but I'm mostly ok with the current outcome.
Please tell me if you have advice regarding this matter, whether it's about letting them in veg longer, bump up nitrogen apport or tie leaves in a specific way.
Wish you all a good week !
I decided to stay in veg a week longer, for the one which isn't auto that is. Flowering stage begins tomorrow.
Also, if anyone knows, why haven't the Master Kush auto flowered yet ? It's been 8 weeks+ from seed...
I moved the set up a bit to give them some room now that they're stretching, and hanged the lamp up the window, for a better light coverage. Hope it isn't too far from canopy (~45cm from the taller one).
As usual, feel free to give me your input.
Have a great week friends !
Switched to 12/12 on monday, That's about it.
Still no flowers :(, except for the snow ryder auto, which is flowering for weeks now.
Have a nice week folks !
Still no flowers :( (except for the Snow Ryder). Current lamp might not be well suited for flo, and feels cheap overall. I ordered a new one (ViparSpectra V600), which should arrive soon.
Other than that, I added some CalMag in the mix. Nothing else.
Have a good week friends !
Very hot week here in France. Plants look okay, but I fear such high temperature will affect yield :(
Also, still no flowers on master kush (auto) and skunk :/
I finally ditched my old LED lamp yesterday, which I replaced with a Vipaspectra V600. I feel it would make a real difference here.
Have a nice evening growers !
Finally, latecomers plants are about to flower. About time ! I think they had to adapt to new lamp ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Also, I remove the table so I can have enough space between lamp and canopy (~40cm).
Plants are healthy as ever, but it seems I messed up training. I'll start sooner next time.
I have a question for whoever read this : Should I change light schedule in the next weeks to be on 10/14, (and maybe then 8/16), or keep it that way ?
Have all a nice week !
Looks like everything's fine; Snow Ryder might be ready to harvest in a few weeks and the other two still have at least 5/6 weeks to catch up IMO.
I'll take any advice you could give at this point, especially regarding light schedule, since I'm not sure if I should reduce light time more to help develop buds.
Also, leaves are drooping every morning from lack of water. Is it really impairing or should I water more often (usually once a day for now) ? Not sure if that's really an issue for plants in the long run.
Have a great evening friends !
Hey folks !
Sorry for the delay, I just got back from a short trip to Amsterdam; really a wonderful place !
Plants are doing just fine. Nothing more :)
Later !
Things are going well. Slowly, but well.
Snow ryder seems almost ready to harvest; trichomes are still clear and some pistils are already brown. I'd say 1/2 weeks from now, but I'm open to your input on this.
I'll stop feeding her after this week.
Master kush has stretched dangerously close to the lights; no burned leaves or anything, so I let it be.
Next week folks !
So, I'm not really sure when I should harvest;
- Snow ryder (little one) looks ready IMO; I started to flush on monday. Trichomes still look clear to me, but I'm not sure :/
- Early skunk (medium one) seems almost good to go, depends which bud you're looking at; I started to flush for a few days
- Master kush (the tallest one) clearly isn't, so I still feed her according to Fox Farm schedule + CalMag
What's your take on this ?
Also, I was thinking about where and how I should hang them for drying; this room seems the most appropriate since I have lockers behind to keep them in the dark and humidity level around 50/60%, but temp is 30°C at least and I fear it'll dry them too fast. Should I hang them in a less "damp" room with a more chill climate, or would this room be appropriate ?
I'd appreciate your help on this :)
Have a cool week folks !
Harvest time for Snow ryder and Early skunk (Saturday 09/07) !
So, I was about to dry trim, as suggested by @StealthyDutchGuy, but before I knew it, I trimmed a bit too much.
Not really an issue; temperature dropped to 21°C, with 50% air humidity, so almost perfect conditions for a regular drying.
I tied some cardboards to make a small panel in order to cover a small closet and hide hanging buds from light. I hanged what I can and put the rest on a plate.
Forgot to weight them before hanging, and I'm too lazy to do it now, so we'll only know dry weight in the end.
Since drying is not over and I don't have yet all the info I should put on an "harvest" week, I'll do it later.
Have all a nice week !
Fruity in mouth, and very sweet, even without curing.
I felt relaxed and in a better mood overall (Kratom might have helped tho).
This plant was very quick to flower and stayed short the whole time (about 50cm tall), easy to work with in any way and have the best smell I've ever smelled.
I recommand this plant for first time growers and/or people who enjoy a very fruity smell and a chill induced state of mind.
Easy to grow and sweet to smoke. Citrus aroma is very present.
I feel this strain has a moderate stone effect, but I can still (barely) function on it. It does a decent job putting me to bed.
Only (somewhat) bad thing : I felt like something was going on most of the trip, and it had something to do with me. Not a full blown paranoiac experience, but some curious vibes in the same space. I felt this both times I tried it. Not that bad tho.
Almost ready to harvest; 1-2 weeks from now IMO.
I started flushing this week.
This one is freaking huge by my standards :D
Have a great week my dudes !
Master Kush last week before harvest. Maybe a bit too soon (only a few amber trichomes), but I felt it's long overdue, time-wise.
I cut off nutrients for 2 weeks already.
I'm overall satisfied of this year's experiment. Growing weed really is a rewarding hobby :)
Thanks to everyone who took time to come by and share their wisdom and experience with me. See you in a few months !
@Buddha2, Thanks !
I just checked your diary; gotta say I'm impressed ! Your plants looked stunning and I found your reviews very informative and useful. :)
Hey, I can't give you advise what room to choose. Haha, perhaps think about if the smell is going to be noticed by people who you don't want them to notice... 😁.
But when I dried my first batch the temp was also quite high. I think about 25-30 degrees. I decided to do a dry trim (not trim the sugar leafs while wet). And leave them on the stem. That way the buds will dry slower which is better for the taste. It worked. 👍
Can't give a solid advice on when to harvest. I harvested my plants when a small part had amber trichomes. But later I heard that there are strains that will almost never get amber (?!). So I don't know. But with my plants it worked. Like the flavor and effect!
Oh, almost forgot. I only harvested the buds that were 'ripe' and left the smaller unripe (popcorn) buds on the plants. I think I harvested the popcorn buds maybe 2 or 3 weeks later.
Good luck on deciding 👍
Unfortunately to get the non autoflower to start flowering you will have to switch to a 12/12 light cycle and to be honest it shouldn't bother the auto's too much !!! Good Luck with the rest of your grow.
Congrats on your harvest! 🎉 I never dried in a box, so I'm very curious how that works out. Is that a hygrometer on top of the boxes?
Good luck and cheers! 👍
@StealthyDutchGuy, : Thanks dude !
It's more of a closet; I'm not too worried about this part :)
> Is that a hygrometer on top of the boxes?
Yup. Reading 54% air humidity and 20°C right now.
Thanks again; I wasn't expecting an outcome that much better from the last time. I still have a lot of progress to do, but I'm getting there :)
@WillyWonka, Hey thanks ! Haha yeah, I've seen a few hairs too with my magnificent glass. I do have cats, two in fact. But only one of them loves to come with me taking care of the plants :)
You can see her on a few pics of this diary.
