Finally flipped and HOLY MOLY is it awesome to start seeing the flowers coming in for the first time on your first grow. Super delayed flip to flower and I am manually switching the lights/opening tent every day due to prioritized spending. BIG HUMIDITY PROBLEM. As I have still not hooked up an outtake fan for the tent I don't see my girls surviving past the next couple weeks so hopefully I can get that figured out. I'll open it up to 95% RH by morning and it sits around 60% even with an open tent. Other than that, I'm happy with the bud sites gained from my first ever grow. Just feeling my way through Topping, Fim, SCROG, and LST was fun a rewarding for sure. Just have to make sure they reach the finish line. TUES: Cleaned tent floor and walls with disinfectant wipes, seemed to get rid of the smell so far. Still worried about the humidity in the closed tent during the dark period. Need a duct fan hardcore before the buds start coming in. The first sight of trichs already sent me into a Powdery Mildew panic. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ THURS: Humidity break. Down in the 45% range and have been able to keep it in the 80s with a huge bowl of dried pasta in the tent lmao no coffee whitener or rice on hand ๐Ÿ˜’ Defoliation of light blockers and bunch ups to improve the airflow in the canopy. I'm hoping the UV lights in my LED set up are enough to keep mildew at bay and can get the dark period RH% down before buds fatten and there is risk for rot.

*Some pictures in week 8 gallery of Leaf Tip burning on my CMOG for reference* Can anyone tell me what the problem may be? Nute burn? PH? Just transplanted up to a 5 gal pot, shock? Plant seems fine other wise. No marks or spots on any other part of the leaves.

How do you save/deal with a plant going Hermie? Week 1/2 Pistils going brown, on research its pollination and I've cut all stems with browned pistils and small sacs formed. Only one plant for now but small tent. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

If you actually saw bananas/pollen sacks then you can try to pluck them out before they burst. If you can keep on top of it and manage to get all of them you should have a good normal harvest with maybe a few seeds. With other plants in there, I would honestly try to remove it and not risk pollinating the others. If some of the sacks have burst then it is very likely the other plants have already been pollinated especially if you have good airflow. If that has indeed happened just grow em out and deal with the seeds. A seedy harvest is better than no harvest. It may also not be a hermie. Pistils can go orange and recede for a number of reasons(dust, Too intense of light, drying out, genetics, etc). So if you absolutely don't see any male parts at all then it is likely not a hermie.

Hi @GlazedGrow! About the last weeks: the flush period is determined by the trichome's evolution, it can last for 7 days, 14 days, or even more. Take a daily closeup look at the trichomes, and start to flush when at least half of the trichomes have turned from transparent/thin to milky/fat. Once you'll get almost only milky trichomes, the harvest window is open! For an energetic high, harvest before the first amber trichomes appear. For a couch-locking high, you better cut it down once 20-30% of the trichomes have turned amber/red, you'll get more CBN/CBD but less THC. About the drying: hanging the stems upside down in your grow tent can be a perfect drying process! But you need to control your RH (~50%) and have a continuous temp (20-22ยฐC / 68-72ยฐF). Harvest before the light turns on, for maximum potency & terpenes. Terpenes and THC are degraded by light and heat during the daytime. Keep your trim wastes to make some canna-butter or bubble hash. Also when trimming, take a break every 10 minutes to remove the glue/hash/stigmas from your scissors, this will be your first joint, you can smoke it while trimming! Depending on your environment and weather conditions you might need to increase or decrease the relative humidity, you can use a mister (to increase) or a dehumidifier (to decrease), be warned that a good dehumidifier is quite expensive. About the curing: jars are the best way to cure, but don't forget to hide them in the dark, once again light will damage your product. Be very careful about your drying process, check your buds everyday and don't rush it or you will ruin your final product. Too-long drying on the other hand can lead to mold/bud-rot issues, this is why a daily inspection is more than required. Once buds seem dry, put everything in jars for the curing process (grandma's glass jars are perfect), keep on watching the buds frequently, mold can corrupt and destroy your product very quickly, you just need to open the jars 5mins everyday and move the buds for a close inspection + air freshening. Finally, act as a cooker with its fresh products : try a bit of your product whenever you think it's ready, your smoker's skills will help in setting up the perfect curing process! Hope these advices will help you, let me know in the comments section if you need any further information, and happy growing! ๐Ÿ‘Š

Another tip I forgot to mention is chop plant right before your lights come on. If possible, do not allow the plants to see direct light as long as their roots are attached. Direct light on a plant will draw up stored starches and sugars from the root system.

@OutForReal, @DankGardener, Thanks for the tip! Entering my final week of flush and will definitely be chopping main stem first in the dark!

OutForRealcommented5 years ago
@DankGardener, @ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze, That's pretty what I am doing , I am harvesting around 4:00 am , from what I heard it is because the light is degrading THC so you'r supposed to chop a better product. I also noticed that a weed that was harvest just after the night was smelling a bit more than when I chop during day time.
DankGardener
DankGardenercommented5 years ago
@ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze, yes but I'm not to sure on the 48 hrs of darkness. But all I do is the day of harvest right before my lights come on that day I go in there make sure there's no light in room and do one cut at the base. After that u can turn on lights.

@ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze, on my last grow. I cheated on flush. Sacrilege! Why donโ€™t you try this on one branch to compare? I soaked buds in water for a day. Then dry and cure as normal. In the jar, smell is crazy strong. But I did fed this plant with a few doses of yogurt. My point is osmosis effect draws out salt nutes from the buds. I soaked one night at 28 degree C and my smell was okay. Mean crazy strong smell. Then I dried at 30 C (my outside temperature) for two days. This is worst case scenario for your information. If you are worry about mold, I did put in a 500 ml bottle of hydrogen peroxide in my soak. Blasphemous - I know.

@Med_in_Tropic, Thanks for the input! Left them in the dark for 20 hours today, will close back up before bed tonight and cut main stems in the morning before light! Worried they aren't flushed out enough but I haven't given them salt nutes for a week and cleared the ProMix twice with Molasses/Water flushes.

To reduce your heat put ur carbon filter up beside your lights it will remove hot air as itโ€™s produced close all other holes and windows and at the very bottom hole put in a duct with a USB fan on the end to draw air in. If your tent is in a closed space fix the duct to very close to the bottom of the door and make sure your carbon filter exhaust is not exhausting into the same room u will just suck the warm air back in. I did this with my setup when it sat between 80-82 on the regular after making changes it is now a consistent 73.4 in my tent at all times when lights are on no air conditioners needed and when humidity got low I put a small bucket of water near intake fan and hung a wet white towel in a corner humidity goes from 40โ€™s to mid 60โ€™s good luck. Iโ€™m in Canada too and itโ€™s gotten a lot warmer over past few weeks but my temps stay true I just donโ€™t need any extra steps for humidity now.

ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze
ThrashedTV_BakedByGlazecommented5 years ago
@@JP148, it was my first grow with a lot of challenges and learning opportunities, that's for SURE ๐Ÿ˜ต Photoperiod clones that came with Spider Mites, grew only in soilless ProMixHP so I had to feed a LOT, and definitely rootbound before switch which lead to a small flower stretch. Got to learn a lot with ScrOG though with the extra time so once I nail the timing on stressing my autoflowers to get extra weeks of Veg, I'll get the frame back in my tent ๐Ÿ™Œ Thanks for the support โœŠ

ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze
ThrashedTV_BakedByGlazecommented5 years ago
@Cannibalgardens, Very frosty and starting to STANK. I usually keep my tent open during lights so I get to enjoy. ๐Ÿ‘ Some of the smaller buds still have that early musty smell which has had me worried about mold/mildew the whole time but keeping a close eye I am okay for now. Even when the buds look too frosty I double check and probably over-handle as a newbie spreading the bud sites and sugar leaves making sure it's shiny and sticky and not white and powder. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hoping for quality because the extra weeks in veg definitely outgrew the 5Gal pot and I'm pretty sure it stunted my stretch.
Humboldt_Seed_Organisation
Nice to see another Chocolate Mint OG diary up and running on the grow diary platform๐Ÿ‘ Your at week 7 of growth and looking in decent shape, my main advice would be to monitor your ec/ppm and ph levels as it does look like a touch of over feeding. Nothing major and very easily a salt build up which can be resolved with a good plan water flush over a week period ๐Ÿ‘ Are you measuring your ppm/ec values of your nutrient feed? Are you measuring your ppm/ec values of your run-off What is your ph? We will keep dropping in as you update mate ๐Ÿ‘ Kind regards Team-HSO..
Humboldt_Seed_Organisation
Humboldt_Seed_Organisationcommented5 years ago
@ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze, On an average CMOG stretch is very manageable and around 1.5x ๐Ÿ‘ So if you flipped at say 50cm the end height will be close to 125cm ๐Ÿ‘Š Nice bit of defoliation work and with an added 2.5 weeks of veg plenty of time to fill that screen out ๐Ÿ‘Œ Looking good from here my friend๐Ÿ‘ With love from Humboldt CountyโœŒ๏ธ Kind regards Mark..
ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze
ThrashedTV_BakedByGlazecommented6 years ago
@Humboldt_Seed_Organisation, Thanks for checking in and the info! ๐Ÿ™ Queue the obvious "Duh" but no, I haven't been monitoring PH or PPM/EC. The plants were dropped in my lap and I had to rush the grow set up around them instead of the other way around so I'm still missing some key pieces. Just been using ProMix HP and Tap Water other than the small amount of Blood Meal I put in the first 3gal pot and small feedings (Now realizing I didn't need to start adding to the water yet) Have had my eyes on PH strips and Up/Down kits and will definitely get that sorted in the next couple weeks leading to flip. Going to keep to Tap Water for now and start adding molasses instead of plant food in a couple weeks. How much stretch am I expecting with the 20% Sativa influence? I'm thinking getting them in a SCROG and going for a July 1st flip, should I add a couple weeks to veg to fill the screen if there is not a significant stretch? My goal is 3 oz per plant but I may be battling some heat/humidity in the middle of summer.

Are your playlists a Technique to strengthen stems?
ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze
ThrashedTV_BakedByGlazecommented5 years ago
@Med_in_Tropic, I have no idea what it actually does other than the general knowledge that plants like certain types of music. ๐Ÿ‘ If I ever listen to music or put it on in the background I'll just put my speaker in the tent so the twins can listen too. I tend to go towards happy, funky, energetic, instrument driven music for .."Good Vibes"? It can be doing nothing or something but if someone kept me tied to a net in their room planning to cut me up and hang me from clothes hangers so they can burn me little by little; I'D APPRECIATE SOME GOOD MUSIC TOO, GOSH DARNIT. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Lionsshare
Lionssharecommentedweek 86 years ago
You can get rid of them and still be able to make healthy clones not sure if the safers you have does eggs as well but there is another safers in a white bottle thatโ€™s a bit different and maybe find something else from another company. Mites are known to become immune to the same treatments so best to try different products the when you get population low enough you can squish stragglers you see and remove leaves with eggs. I did that with a clone and it worked out bug free all the way through. Even a home made mix of odourless soap and water would help for a cycle just no detergent and scents.

@Lionsshare, Thanks! been thinking of going up to Neem Oil for the last few treatments before flower but I'll see how she goes. Whole point of growing is to cut down on money spent on bud in the long run so I might do a few autos just to bolster the stash then get back to photos. Thanks for the input! Keep an eye
