So here we go with this experiment of a new strain from barneys farm. I am stoked to be back into their genetics again and will be running a couple more in coco alongside (Gorilla Zkittelz , Phantom Og , Cookie Kush , Orange sherbet). I have been desperate to get going on another run of their genetics and here we have it. The plan is to top , lst them to a quad manifold , grow them outward and bushy before a major defol after the stretch has done. I have chosen coco as it is now getting hotter here in the UK so didnt want to battle the heat in the dwcr throughout the grow. I love coco for its forgiveness and ability to restart from flushed if needed. I am also trying out some of the SUMO nutrients line up for flowering and finish after reading great reviews. Still going with Golden Tree and gh trio with occasional superthrive tickles too. I am expecting great things from this Genetic hybrid and know it wont let me down ( Wish i could get an L.E.D sponsor for lights but keep hitting brick walls.lol) .I have 2x enhanced 600w hps for the flowering period specifically and and will be using 1 600w MH for the initial vegging period ( may go to second 600 of they demand it. As i am doing multiple barneys strains but never get to enter diary of month ect... i am journaling each strain individually. This initial post is for ALL the girls that i germinated from the first picture( 100% success within 3 days of planting dry into sponges) I am using this update to begin them all off as the start up has been the same for all the little ones. I dropped the seeds in, impatient me as i am, wanted to grow them since they arrived and never considered how close to our family vacation for 10 days i was!. I had to make emergency coco survival pods that can wick water !!!!. problem solved and they seem to have given me a break. So from here on in they will get their own updates. climb aboard for the ride , any comments greatly recieved and appreciated. Welcome

Day 9 Veg: The Little lady has been performing well this week. She has had a move from the temporary pot as her roots needed to spread out before they started circling in there. Having decided on going coco and using the 27ltr fabric pots i dug out the remainder of some Plagron Coco i had to use up. I rated this product in a precious grow so seems a waste to not use a dedicated coco product at least until flower , then its back the gh trio. I am using the Plagron power roots too as i also had great results in the past with it in coco. The feed mix is coming in at around 1040ppm on my meter which feels like a mega feed compared to the 600 used in the rdwc. The plants seem to love it and have shown no signs of burn or otherwise so far. After a lot of shuffling around to accommodate the plants into their final pots and positions The Blue Gelato has a prime spot directly under the lights. I have put both 600w MH on now and am hoping to minimize the vertical stretch a little and get the nodes as close as i can together. This might result in using "tip spreading" once the 5th nodes have grown out enough to top. I am going to Quadline her to spread her out before her flowering is induced and there may be a possible scrog net used if they get too boisterous. She responded to the up-pot well and after 3 days she looks happy and has definitely stood up and out more. Her leaves are looking very healthy green and she is forming her base nicely. I am hoping her rootball will be nicely started now too. Hopefully see signs of roots touching the pots sides within a week. I am feeding her every 4 days at present as this is enough time to use the feeds before replaced by fresh ones. I expect this to go up very quickly as she grows and the coco reaches full moisture levels to the edges of the pots. The next week should be building the foundation for their flowering structure so fingers crossed for a positive one.

Update day 16 veg: Another active and tiring week for her this week. There have been deaths and accident to contend with but thankfully she has endured. After her topping and strip , she recovered i a day and began growing out again. Sadly a few days back i dropped my phone and it hit her square on , snapping two nodes off her quad build up. gutted was an understatement. Seeing her growing so well and filling out the pot felt like a waste of time. i gave up on the idea of her quad and was going to go with her needs on the fly. She had other ideas and has begun to send replacements out already. I have lowered the ppm to nearer 500. dont want to overdo it now. She is going to be a beautiful flowering plant and will be worth the stress. lol

Day 30 veg: Cannot fault this girl after all her mishaps and now she is coming back with a fire in her belly. She is quadlining nicely now and her newer growth is catching up with the older plants limbs. Her look is very healthy and green and her visible growth sites are many. cannot wait to see how she smells when gets to flowering time. Now under led , she can settle in the improved space and get on with gaining size before her flip next week hopefully. Got to love Barneys resilient strains. cannot wait to try the sponsored Fast buds seeds next run too.

TRANSITION WEEK :Day 1 (Day 35 veg) I am counting my flowering cycle from the point of actual flowers so will use Veg on here to keep proper timings for her expected flowering cycle , my transition to flower period. app needs this building in i think too !. The blue Gelato 41 has been through the mangle to get to this switch to flowering but she has fought back with a welcome vengeance i am happy to say. The nodes i killed have been replaced so quickly with more and they have caught up so well with older limbs. I am so excited to flower this girl to get to smell her minty choc aroma. After i spread her out and defoliated, i was suprised how well she had regrew and filled her structure with bud sites. She should give me a great yield with this quadline method judging by her recovery rates and stem growth. Using the silica has kept her very supple and easy to work with on the lst too. I expect she will do Barneys Farm proud with these great genetics kicking in.

TRANSITION DAY 11 (9Th July 19): This superstar is another winner for Barneys Barneys Farm so far. A great hybrid that is growing so well with the minimum of fuss too. She took the lost limb in her stride and came back fighting hard. She is stretching great and i feel she could be an amazing single plant grow with a ton of room for long veg. A future project !!!. I am happy with her flowering speed and will be stripping some.of the leaves out and small growth to power those future big buds. There is a smell starting in the room now so i think it is time to consider the filters again. Hope all your grows are going great guns. Have a run of Sponsored Fast Buds Autos for my next run and trying a side by side with a living soil v coco. have fun

Flowering day 2: For a new strain i am so impressed with her growth. She has performed great to this stage. Her flowers are forming amazingly quickly and she is taking the quadlining very seriously. All her shoots are looking able.to bear good sized buds and her secondary ones are fighting to get to the canopy top. This early on and needing a clearout of the small pointless growth , i feel she will be a great yielder of some dense nugs. Have green days folks.

Flower Day 8: Blue Gelato 42 8s a great strain to grow so far. She is vigerous in her normal veg cycle and now in flowering she is popping up budsites all over her frame. She needed the defol and strip out i gave her on day 7 to develop her main buds without wasting energy/nutes ect. She is a very good sixe and should have a lot of decent stacked up buds. Her stems are building to be fairly thick but seeing her buds at this early shocked me as to how good she is turning out. Taking feeds with no issues at all or signs of deficient nutes. Rhey are all on 3ltre feeds every other day now. She will be a great yielder. Have noticed a slight mell starting in the tent now so all good so far. They are loving the Shogun boost so far too.

Update day 14 flowering: The Gelato jas been no problem so far in flowering. She is building some nice sized colas along her lanky stems. I dont think she is going to stack up lime the others will but should give some decent sized nugs at the end i hope. Node spacing is a it long but copable. I will have to keep her in a good position to fill out the lowers for final yield i think. Lets see what rhe 32°c hearwaves does with her !!

day 27 flowering: The Blue gelato has some beautiful forming buds on her that remind me of ice cream oddly enough. She smells nicely if sweetness. sticky to touch and healthy as hell. I am a little dissapointed with her node spacing and hope her bud sizes can make up for it. she would have been better in scrog than quadlined i think but lessons learned. Do love her look though.

Update day 35 Flowering.: It is all over for the bg41. That nice formed and perfect bidlet at 2 weeks has seeded itself. No sign of "nanners" anywhere in the grow room or on her at all but she has seeded somehow ????. Never had a hermie to date in over 20 years so no idea what happened here. The bids themselves looked so perfect too. i plucked all of the seeded buds out and could find no more bit i cannot risk the rest of the crop for her. So far i have about 40 decent looking viable seeds to use in future , no Guarantee they will not be hermies too bit you never know. wont give up on the strain just yet even though it is a little lanky for my style of growing. Maybe a good training beforehand would benefit them more than a quadline. I am gutted to not get the end with this lady but live and learn.

Week 11. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

sadly harvesting her at week 4 had to be done. The seeding was too much of a risk to the other ladies. Surprisingly the dried bud is fairly potent for under developed, unripened product. It has been keeping me going while i wait for the others to finish. Taste wise her minty fresh draw numbed my lips !!! I can only imagine how nice the completed buds would have been. It does seem to be an issue with this strain and hermies as i know another grower who following my herm , he then found "nanners" sneaking in on his too. Rhe buds were growing so beautiful and looked like white flames.

Besides the hermie issue , i have ended up with a fairly decent smoke. i never expected this from an early harvest at all but am pleasantly surprised. I thought she would end up on the compost pile to feed future grows but she came through. I have around 50-60 seeds now too so hopefully some will be viable and i can try her again but with more prep for her huge plant potential. She grew very tall and doubled in stretch period easily. Her node length were a little long for an indoor grow of my dimensions so some serious training would be in order to get the best from her. Outdoors she would produce monsters without a doubt.
