End of week 3. Decided to change the feed in the res a day early this week, as it looks like I have a slight calcium deficiency. Added shogun cal-mag and shogun silicon to the feeding schedule. Will see how she goes over the next week. Ordered a cheap ec meter from amazon, arrived yesterday but after I tested it in calibration liquid it wasn't reading correctly and I couldn't see any way of calibrating it. Might have to spend out a bit more on a better one.
Edit. Midway through week four now and starting to show signs of going into flower. I have also started foliar feeding with a water/epsom salt mist spray to help with the calcium issue and make sure she has enough magnesium to break it down, 1/4tspn/L mix. More updates at the end of the week
Happy growing
The Ec values should be around 0.5 to 0.6 during week 1
, 2.2 /2.4 week 2 ( 18h of light ) , 2.5/2.7 week 3 , 2.7/3 week 4 (18 h of light ) then after you induce flowering with 12/12 light schedule and you use an Ec between 2.7 and 3.2 until the late flowering and during the 2 last week you use a 1.8 to 2 Ec . In flowering prefer to use 2.8 week 1 then 2/2.5 week 2 and repeat ( 3.0 week 3 and 2.2 week 4 )
I've noticed that my plant is now showing signs of going into flower. Next res change is due Sunday. Should I switch to bloom nutes then, or would you recommend to do it earlier?
The Flowering will take 6-8 weeks, iam sure your plant is ok when she gets blooming nutes a few days after showing flowers.....in my opinion its more important to keep a nice ph and a good solution temperature...
Even automatics are very sensitive to nutrition... they tend to want less nutrients than photoperiods ( their lifespace is much shorter. So iam sur your plant is ok , in having the blooming nutes later... greetings and happy growing
Greetings @Mrs_Larimar, thanks for the reply. I will change the feed in the res on my usual schedule and just keep an eye on the pH and res temps until then. Not so bad now the weather has cooled, between 18 and 23 mostly and ph 6.0 when I checked last night. Thanks for the help and happy growing 🌿
@Mrs_Larimar, thank you. I am happy with the results so far, a fun learning curve with dwc. My previous 2 attempts in soil were not the best so this is good progress!
@TheBudWhisperer, 100% bro I will let you know as soon as the new diary is up! I think I'll pop the seeds when I hang this one to dry, should be ready to go straight into the pot at around 10 days then. Fingers crossed for some good weight on this one, I'll be watching yours closely for a comparison! 🌿🤙
@Green_T, I’d say Mine is a solid 2 weeks behind yours Based on the colouring. She’s fade’n real nice dude👌. As for the next run - GSC is always a good option IMO. I’ve done a couple of crosses of it and have a sapphire scout from HSO come’n up myself. Let me know when u get it up, I’d def. like to put a follow on that👍
Midway through week 3, showing some signs of a calcium deficiency. Ordered shogun cal-mag and silicon which should hopefully be here tomorrow and sort the issue
Firstly EC should not be over 2.2 in DWC , 2.2 EC = 1100 ppm start at 1.3 go up to 2.2 in third week of flower reducing in 5 th week and 6th week
Secondly You should really start flower nutes slightly before they flower
Third - I never had perfect results using AN in DWC , but in soil they were fantastic
@BigDaddyK, thanks for the feedback 👍 I will make sure to take it on board with my next attempt, just started a new diary running the same strain so will hopefully get better results. I will pick up a new ec meter next week, the last one I bought was cheap and so out of whack it wasn't worth using. I'm going to leave the AN out this time and just run with shogun and see how it goes.
👍 👍
This is a great comparative for me dude and thanks for reaching out. Interesting that she moved in to flower so quickly. Mine did the same and it says a lot about why there was limited growth on mine in the first couple weeks. If she moves to flower this quick as a strain then I simply had my seedling set too high in the basket. Cant wait to run another one and correct some things. Grows lookn fantastic bro - she’ll be a giver for sure!👍😎👌
@TheBudWhisperer, I haven't tried soiless mediums, it was a toss up between that and DWC. Opted for the dwc as it seemed the cheaper option to get started, and like you say the reduced maintenence is great especially compared to soil! I did notice a few patchy leaves on mine last night, looks like a possible phosphorus deficiency but the pH had run a bit low too. Adjusted and seems stable now but I'll up the pk booster on the weekend and see if that helps. Tbh It's all a bit of guesswork and probably luck that I haven't had more issues! Hope you get your problems sorted and get a nice little smoke, All good experience for the next run! 🌿👍
@Green_T, given how well she’s doing I can appreciate that you’d stick with it. That said, I’m not big on soil (unless it’s outdoor obviously) but I am huge fan of coco and soilless mediums. Similar growth rates to hydro but the same general process as soil/conventional grows.
Im Hoping that my next dwc run will have the kinks ironed out because I love the reduced maintenance that hydro allows for👍
@TheBudWhisperer, yeh I thought it would be a cool comparison as they are so close. I think it is genetics that makes them switch so early from what I have seen, I did put mine quite far down in the pot to start. I will post a pic of the roots later when I get home, the tap root is coming straight out of the bottom of the pot! This is my first attempt at DWC and so far 100% better results than my 2 previous soil attempts, I will defo be sticking to this method from now on! Fingers crossed for a good crop, probably only a few weeks before it's time to flush. Good luck with the rest of your grow, she's looking good I'll look forward to the updates 🌿👍
@blendmedmedman, thank you! Yeh it has been good fun so far, much easier than my 2 previous unsuccessful soil attempts! Good learning curve, I've learnt a few things along the way ready for the next one so hopefully it will only get better and more refined with time 👍
@CRiSPrGrow, I think it was a calcium deficiency. Adding some cal-mag and foliar feeding with some epsom salts seems to have cured it fingers crossed. The pH hasn't fluctuated massively throughout the grow so far it has been pretty steady, I try to check it as often as possible. Thanks for the input though always appreciated👍
