What a great little specimen this was. She was small, but strong and sturdy, holding her own throughout the entire grow. The final product has come back very potent and very pungent, much like the NL's. Her buds are dense and break up well; into nice fluffy, moist and sticky flower. Her mainstay terpenes seem to be Caryophyllene and Mercene, but I'm already starting to pick up a slight sweetness to her, in both aroma and taste. No problem with me: 1:. Though the bud comes first, I was very happy to see the show she put on in the later weeks of Bloom. It was the first time I've seen these pheno's and trying to pull them out by changing my environment, was completely worth it. I would recommend this strain to anyone that want's a super strong cough-lock strain that'll have you eating everything in site within 15 minutes. It's not a bad thing, but come prepared with snacks!!๐๐
Great product and truly "old faithful". Moving on to a different Nutrient line, however, as GHE is far too pricey in such a competitive space. PH down is low rated due to the price, alone. 237mL of pH down shouldn't cost over 10 bucks.
Another line I'm starting to really like and looking to try more of as time goes on here. Eventually, I'd like to do an entire run of their products but only when finances permit. It is pricey, but I'm very impressed with the results I have seen.
Have excess salts and need to drop PPM's fast? This'll do er. Whether you believe in flushing or not, this works as advertised and has helped me out in the later stages of flower when I had far too much excess in the soil to confidently chop. This did it: 1:. Good price, don't need much. Thinking this one bottle will last me a few years...so well worth it.
10 out of 10. Can't believe the massive changes this lamp has made and I have zero regrets. Growth rate went through the roof and the girls wanted for nothing. The spectrum is beautiful and even, without a focus on high spikes with just R/B. I used this lamp in Veg but did use my Blurple for supplementary light in flower. The two girls under the Blurple were noticeably fluffier and far less dense then the two under the SF. This lamp created the tightest internodes and buds, I literally had to back it off to let them stretch. I could go on and on... but know that this lamp is a winner, all the way. Proof is in the pictures and there's tonnes of proof on GD w/ what this lamp can do. If you're looking for a quantum board, this guy right here. (For an appropriate footprint, it's recommended to have 2, 2000's or 1, 4000 to optimize your core coverage). I will be picking up another one or a direct equivalent. Zero complaints. Love it.
Great tent. No over priced gimmicks, just the goods. Great canvas material, high quality and rigid. I have no complaints at all with this unit. It's a fortress. Nothing gets in or out unless it's meant too.
Hello all! Welcome to Little Dosee's Harvest. The deets and the numbers for y'all.
DSD was a treat to grow and I'm happy I picked her as a strain to try out. I made mistakes with DSD but she constantly bounced back. I'm positive other strains under the same conditions would not have taken it that well. She is clearly the runt of the group and that's due to those mistakes I made. The writing was on the wall and I saw she would not yield like her counterparts, but she was very dense and healthy. Whatever was coming off her was going to be gold, even if there wasn't as much.
She is potent as all hell. I knew she would be but it still knocked me down a bit on my first tasting. Fantastic๐. I haven't tested THC/CBD quantities, but plan too. For now I can only ball-park a 25-26% THC (?) w/ negligible CBD. Along with dense buds that break up nice and fluffy, this girl was a winner for me. Her extra potency will make her last longer if I cut her with a lower THC strain.
**The Numbers:** (LARF and milled flower weights are halved in the "Outcome" portion, above. Personally I don't like to count it as whole bud, but it's still quality flower for concentrates. For this reason it's counted, but not in full. The numbers below are different/higher then the "Outcome" but are the actual weights taken on the day of Jarring)
-Whole Flower- 55 Grams (1.96 ounces)
-Milled Flower- 35 Grams (1.25 ounces)
-Total Product- 90 Grams (3.21 ounces)
-Jar #1, whole flower- 26 Grams (.92 ounces)
-Jar #2, whole flower- 29 Grams (1.03 ounces)
-Jar #3, milled flower- 16 Grams (.57 ounces)
-Jar #4, milled flower- 19 Grams (.67 ounces)
The numbers aren't through the roof but I'm more then pleased with the outcome. She will make for some fine smoke and potent oil concentrates. At the end of the day, it's always about the quality. So, I'm a happy camper.
**Grow #1 Vs. Grow #2**
Long story short, in Grow #1 I was really hesitant to push the envelope in any way. I used a basic Nutrient Trio and Cal-Mag. I didn't do anything but what the schedule told me and I usually only applied 3/4's of the recommended dose. I was walking on egg shells and scared to hurt/kill them. They continued to look healthy and put out a great product, but it was clear that a lot of changes had to be made. The yield wasn't there and if I was to grow my own, to carry me and my family between grows, I needed to up these numbers, man. This was my mission and I made a lot of those changes. Below are most all the methods/techniques/nutrients/additives/equipment used to increase these numbers over my first go.
1. Nutrients/Supplements/Additives
Grow #1:
-Standard GHE Flora Series Trio & Cal/Mag 0-0-2 by manufacture's recommended doses, or less
Grow #2:
-Standard GHE Flora Series Trio & Cal/Mag 0-0-2 at full dose, advanced schedule
-Introduction of Humic/Fulvic Acids (Diamond Nectar), Molasses (Floralicious Plus), Potassium Silicate (Sturdy Stock), a PK Booster (King Kola), Root Stim #1 (n/a) and Gaia Green 2-16-0 Bone Meal
2. Medium
Grow #1:
-First 3 gallons, Fox Farm's Ocean Forest. Last 2 Gallons, Dutch Treat w/ perlite conditioner (Soil was under conditioned and had high water retention)
Grow #2:
-All 5 gallons a 50/50 mix of Canna Terra (Peat moss for aeration) and Dutch Treat w/ 1:10 ratio of perlite added. (So it could breath, feeds could be applied faster and water logging was no longer an issue)
3. Lighting
Grow #1:
-Single 245 Watt, Blurple LED by Phlizon. (Specs in week #1 of this diary)
Grow #2:
-Addition of Spider Farmer-2000 Quantum Board LED for vegetation and both the SF and Blurple used in tandem for Bloom. (Larger output, higher PPFD rating and adequate footprint)
4. Environment
Grow #1:
-Held an almost constant 70% RH and 26-28 degree Celsius in Veg and 50% RH and 24-26 degrees Celsius in Bloom
-Light cycle held at 24/0 for the entire grow
Grow #2:
-Held an almost constant 55-60% RH and 24-26 degrees Celsius in Veg and 30-45% RH and 21-24 degrees Celsius
-Light cycle at 24/0 for seedlings and moved down to 20/4 roughly 3 weeks into Veg.
5. Training
Grow #1:
-Topped multiple sections, trained out, ran out of room and by the end they were not very sturdy and needed to be propped up with ribbon/yoyos
Grow #2:
-Topped the main once and once only. All other tops accomplished w/ LST. Additional bamboo sticks and strapping were planned ahead of time and by end game they carried themselves very well even with far more weight then the first go.
6. Trimming/Pruning
Grow #1:
-Did very little trimming, pruning or Defo. Was uncertain and this was more of a natural grow. Many, many tops with finite product on each
Grow #2:
-Planned for 8-10 Mains, max and pruned to accomplish this. I was not as hesitant to prune and defo as needed to help larger cola sites flourish. Achieved the 8-10 tops on both. Less LARF, easier trimming, more product, big win๐
That was the Hobbit House folks. It was a good ride and put on a great show๐. Thank you to ALL of you for keeping up with my updates and for all your support. It is and is always appreciated. Cheers to all my grow friends and happy trailsโ: 1:
Need advice as soon as possible. Please see last few pictures of DoSiDos week 3. Am I looking at mottling here? Soil ph maladjusted? Please help if you've seen this before, and what steps do it take moving forward (or am I paranoid, IDK). Thank you!
most growers like the flowering, i like the seedlings and vegetation time the best. as you say they are moving so fast and you can tain her in various shapes
@Ga4rd2en0er, You and I and others seem to agree๐. Some stunning LST and form in the grows I see on here. I like when it goes beyond product, alone. The plant is beautiful and it's fun to help bring that out. ๐๐
@JinksyGrows, I guess I'm a design nerd, I love designing new systems to grow in and when a design fails or is performing poorly, I love the challenges of fine tuning or redesign. 2nd favorite is flowering time watching the ladies mature and develop their wonderful aroma. My least favorite is harvest day. My hands cramp easily from trimming ๐, the disinfecting and clean up.
@OutForReal, Haha, to each their own. I do love the colors and form come end game๐. But the time I get to spend with them on veg is almost meditative for me and it's a super peaceful time.
Thanks for dropping by Spinner and for all the love on the grows! Greatly appreciated.
Cheers my friend! Happy grows
@Mrs_Larimar, It is a sad feeling. Spent so much time with her it's hard not to become attached. But she did great and she will live on with the fruits she's givenโบ๏ธ.
@OutForReal, So, long story short I picked DSD for its name, lol! How can I pass by a strain called do-si-dos, what a cool name! So, I came on here and found 2 DSD grows using the same genetics from seed bank (i49). I didn't trust the breeders projected 29% and asked them to verify if they tested (an indie Dom that high, can it be?). Anyways, it be, hahaha. One user pulled a beauty harvest at 31%!!! Holy crap!... So I bought a set.
Until now, I had no idea this was becoming a popular strain, haha. I just liked the name and the terpene profile matches my preferences. But cool! I guess this will be my take on the strain and see how it goes.
I'll edit in the link if the DSD grow I mentioned. Using his flowering period as reference for this grow (same seed bank after all)
Thanks spinner! Hope this DSD is comparible to others trying her out!
Cheers
Edit: @DD_420 has a completed DSD and a brand new DSD at end week 5. Check it out! Beautiful plant.
@Mrs_Larimar, Yeah the Do is dos is trying to be the 2019/2020 fancy strain selection, every breeder tey to have their own version of it ... and I don't even know why it has been so famous ๐ค must be a killer strain
@Mrs_Larimar, We are and here we go! Very excited, even more then my first go. With all the changes you helped me with, I'm pumped to see the results. But! can't get cocky, still only half way๐๐
Cheers my friend and thank you for touching on my diaries ๐๐
Jinks said;
The 'Meh':
-Fungal gnat problem exists, still, but is completely under control for now.
I say:
those fungus gnats are a pain in the ass. And they come back in " waves" I have them in nearly every grow, especially using airpots ( they can crawl in th holes) iam continously " fighting " them in every stage.
But its a good sign for living soil with agood microbacterial life... ( this is what i tell to myself not to freak out )
@Mrs_Larimar, Glad I'm not the only one! And I'm with you on this. I was worried at first but now I just understand its apart of this specific grow. Their under control and I'm not going to panick over it. Girls are all very happy and I'm not letting the pests establish themselves.
Thank you for sharing this. That I'm not the only one seeing them. I thought it was a newbie mistake but it seems they are relatively normal to have, AS LONG as they don't get out of hand
Just saw pic of your current set up, do you have a Co2 generator? If not you can make one outta a couple plastic bottles and some cheap aquarium pump tubing....
@CRiSPrGrow, just posted a picture of the DIY Co2 generator in my new diary Do Si Dos round 2, should find it in week 4โs pictures for anyone that wants the visual.
funny I also wanted to extend drying time to 7-10 days and ended up in 5 ... No fans, just low extraction, 18*C, 50% RH ... it would be nice to compare longer drying times. We will get there! keep up that energy into your next grow ๐
@JinksyGrows, I'm in the same boat... always used 3% H2O2 and now on my last bottle and don't like my chances of getting another :) By the way, I'm thinking of doing a vertical ScrOG experiment in my next crop. I'm sure we'll stay in touch and up to date.
@HazeyBobby, I have been using 3% H202, but with recent developments (this whole pandemic thing) I'm a little hesitant about using it for the tent and will probably be going with bleach instead...unfortunately. I'm positive there are other methods to sanitize, but these are the only two chemical products I have at hand, ATM. Afterwards I do a sanitation and clean off all chemical residue too. Just in case! I hate the lingering smells they leave and I'm positive the plants do pick some of that up through the moisture in the air.
@JinksyGrows, what do you use to sterilise the tent? I'm using 20L airpots and one has an infestation of springtales - I will need to do something about that :)
@DD_420, No worries man. I have a pretty good idea what the Veg of the plant should look like, but your flowering pictures are more what I'm after (which are all there). If you're interested and want to send me some photos of Veg without making a new diary, my email is posted in personal info. Again, you dont have to! Haha. But if you want, by all means, I'd love to see you Veg photos and LST.
P.S. Yah! I germinated Nov 10th and they popped nov 12th. Our schedules seem to be lined right up.
@JinksyGrows, apologize for the missing weeks to start my first do si dos. She was originally used to cut babies from for a couple co workers outdoor this year while I low stress trained her to form a thicker canopy once she flowered. Iโd show you a picture of the 2nd gen mother and her 2 current 3rd gen babies but I canโt figure out how to show you other than starting a new journal. The two 3rd generation Babies I have currently were transplanted from pucks to pots on Remembrance Day making them within days of yours I believe
@DD_420, Yo! My Do-Si-Dos bro!! I followed through and here she is, above ground! Thanks for the kind words brother. If I can get the girl to look half as good as yours, we're in business. Coincidentally, I was running through the journal several days ago๐ making sure I'm on par with your growth rate. Theres no week 1 though 7 but I still feel like I'm behind. Will kick it up a notch.
@Mrs_Larimar, Thank you my friend, very much. Grow number one is just getting further and further away and these new results are night and day. I'm very happy and content with these kids and their potential ๐. It's about quality, always, but a larger yeild then my first wouldn't make me mad๐
Sweeeeeeet Flower Time!!!!!! Just wait till you see how many trichomes DSD is going to pack on! I have my 2 dsd next to some Hindu Kush right now and they look pretty much the same for triโs. However the Hindu Kush are too be coming down 2 weeks befor the dsd.
Get ready for the white out thatโs coming your way, hehe
@DD_420, oh buddy, I can't wait to see the DSD blow up and be snowcap white. She's the smallest plant out of the four, but I don't think she will disappointe. And if the Hindu Kush is coming down two weeks prior and they look the same, you're probably in for even more frosty goodness with DSD๐๐๐.
Bring on the white out๐๐. Cheers brother
@Mrs_Larimar, I. Absolutely. Love. It. Like night and day. Best part is being able to see the plants clealry. The blurple served me well, but I'm happy to have upgraded to this.
Girls look good, youve done alot for them.I see only good actions taken in your diary. and afew spots on aleaf...... she is going to grow it out.......but if those marks spread we got to talk again
@HazeyBobby, As long as we walk in knowing what we need/want, AN is a great company. I have been upsold on a couple supplements that I really didn't need, though. Not AN's fault, though. Looks like I'll be going for one of three lines. Future harvest, AN or Emerald Harvest. Give me two weeks and I might actually have made up my mind...lol! I'm fickle.
@JinksyGrows, agree - that list of products that goes on turned me off initially. And I do see some diaries here that include so many additives from AN - not my kind of approach to growing :)
@HazeyBobby, Great info. Wierd they don't taper down the nitrogen for late flower... Definitely see that causing some issues. And I actually have looked into advanced nutrients quite a bit. It's very solid product. Not a huge fan that they have 51! products, but if I pick the right supplements, advanced nutrients is definitely at the top of the short list. Never heard anything bad about it or them... Looks good๐
