First grow week one. I started out with trying to germinate five Girl Scout Crack and two Jack Herer. I made it out alive with four GSC and one hopefully strong Jack. I started these out at a pretty rough time, battling both extreme temps and a craziness at work. Due to the temps I've had to keep the light on 24 hours. Going to hopefully get down to 18 once the arctic stops freezing over. These girls are starting to show some signs up life so more to come

Plants are starting to come along. Still battling wild humidity swings (High 67%m, Low 22%), but starting to at least get it into an acceptable range of 40%-50% while I'm around. One plants leaves are curling a bit, not sure what's going on there.

In hindsight I should transplanted these from the solo cup right about now - a week later. The stems are getting stronger and I think the roots would have been more developed. Shit got ugly while transplanting. Shocked three of them survived Editors note 4.22.18: I should have waited on the LST. I later topped these so no need to bend the stem down now. It did make the plants shorter, but I had room.

Not many pictures this week, things got busy and I’m letting them do their thing, with some low stress training along the way. Using a soft rope tied to Bobby pins so I can pin down right where I want to.

Looks like you had a bit of a phosphorus deficiency that later cleared up when you started using nutes. If that is actually the case I would question your soil as the plants were way to small to be having that problem at that time

Nitrogen deficiency ,try use for 1-2 days water , or lower your dosage of nutrients prob will help you :) have a nice day

This to me looks more like over-fertilizing. For me the best is 1 fertilizer 1 water. Much water and a revive/root solution after water or with the water i think it would be great. Anyway as i see them is no reason to worry. It looks like you will have a great harvest!

First week flowering! Lights were adjusted to 12 hours a day and plants are looking healthy for the most part Editors note: for those of you starting the flowering stage for GSC here has been my experience: Weeks 1-2: plant is transitioning from veg to flower. Nothing too exciting going on. Weeks 3-4: budgets start to form. Weeks 4-7: buds start to develop and fatten. Most of the fattening happened in week 6 and 7 for me. Week 8: buds start to ripen, pistols turn amber, and trichomes start to turn milky white

Budlets are starting to form on all plants, good sign! Plants are definitely starting to stretch out. The low str3ss training has kept them at a good height though so no issues there.

First Picture: Plant A [A Jack): center bottom. This is the solo Jack Herer plant I started in the Rockwool cube, and has formed into a stocky rectanglular plant. It’s only 15 inches from the top of the canopy to soil, but theres only about three gallons in there. The transplant from solo cup to 1 gallon quart was easy for A jack since I started the seed in a Rockwool cube. It’s roots grew quicker and were well developed in the solo cup. Unfortunately this risking childhood Star got mixed up in the wrong nutes. When I was using Fox Farm’s Big Bloom and Grow Big nutrients in week 8 the tips of the leaves started to burn. It’s started to get better, but when I went to flowering it’s still persisting so I am only using water until I’m done. 4.22 update: based on week 7 pictures I think this plant got PH lockout, then in week 9/10 it got nute burn. Plant B: top right. A GSC strain that was also started in a Rockwool cube leading to an easy transition into the gallon pot of soil. I unfortunately snapped two branches on this one. The first recovered no problem but the second I had to tape up and hasn’t regained its strength, The buds surprisingly don't seem to have been that impacted. This plant started developing curled tips around the fifth week of flowering but the buds look very healthy. Plant C: top middle. Full disclaimer: plant C could easily be the original plant D. The re-pot of these plants did NOT go as planned. First big lesson I learned this grow was to have patience when it comes time to upgrade your pot size. From Veg onward plant C has become my number one topped plant. She grew tall and firm, and has developed great sinsemillas. Plant D: far left, The Queen. I didn't think the Queen was going to last to be honest. In early veg her growth lacked vs the other plants. Since she was a slow grower I opted to not top her and I'm glad I didn't. Her main Cola is developing beautifully and is going to be great when harvested. Plant E: bottom right. Zero to Hero. Plant E wasn't expected to make it from the start. She lacked in growth in almost all phases, and her branches grew out in all shapes and forms. That said her Colas look dank. At the end of veg I trimmed a decent portion of the under growth and I'm glad I did since this plant has focused all it's energy on the buds.

Since I am nearing the end of my grow I wanted to share with everyone some mistakes I made. I am stoked with the how the plant has developed to date, but even more excited to start my second grow. 1. Fill your pots to the top with soil and place your plants up near the surface so your roots have as much room as possible to grow. When you soil the soil will further compress. What you save in soil $ you sacrifice in yield. 2. Understand your nutes (that name still cracks me up). Shit still confuses me, and two of my plants developed leaf issues. 3. Buy a decent PH measuring stick. It's makes a big difference since PH is the starting point for nute deficiency/burn. 4. Don't rely on the internet to solve your leaf issues. Find a quality source and understand the method for diagnosing a plant. 5. Buy Jorge Cervantes Indoor/Outdoor medical marijuana grow bible. It has everything you want to know for the $10 kindle version on amazon. I unfortunately did not get it until my tenth week and regret it. 6. In veg you can treat it like a weed and it'll recover, but in flower you want to be gentle. I was a little rough with mine the first weeks of flowering and wish I hadn't touched them because it seems like it might have slowed the growth down a bit. 7. Understand it's a long haul. 4/30 will be my fourth month growing and I still will have at least another month after that before I get an to the end product. 8. Have fun with it and try different shit out. If you grow multiple plants try different techniques like topping, trimming, etc.

Plant A: 17.65 Plant B: 11:05 Plant C: 20.9 Plant D: 21.25 Plant E: 16.25 The smell coming from these plants is intoxicatingly beautiful. A lush, fruity aroma that fills the nostrils. They are all starting to cure nicely as the weeks ago by. The taste so far has been ok, but I’ve sampled them earlier than I probably should have. Research and development! The high achieved my objective and more: She sports a crisp focus coupled with with a clear talkative state that spurs deep conversation. She’s alert, maybe a bit too much but hoping that settles with time. I highly recommend this plant. Overall pretty easy plant to grow. Two plants did get some sort of deficiency, but both plants final product look just fine.0

Hey space...I ordered this strain also from the same bank, I'm so excited that you've gotten her so close to harvest. I've tried just GSC and Green crack...I'm so interested to see what your opinions on it are once you've finished it. I have a hard time with a lot of strains so I'm curious to see what its effects and everything are like once you get the chan've to sample it. :)

Experimentgreencommented7 years ago
@Spaceballs, That's usually how I pick my strains too. I've got the strawberry cough going now, and its the happiest nonanxious strain I've found. But the plant has had some unusual growth patterns occurring...possibly just a weak seed outta the bunch I suppose.

@Experimentgreen, I will absolutely let you know. I chose this strain because of the happy/euphoric feeling it’s ancestors produce so I am hoping for the same thing here as well. I am stoked at how well she is coming out so far, definitely did not expect that from my first grow!

They eat a lot of N when growing, even a bit after they started flowering. Just feed them more nitrogen and you won't see any more yellowing died leaves on the bottom. :-) Gl!

Your plants look great, I didn't see the yellow leaf anymore...did you remove it or did it fall off? I'm so glad you didn't have a lasting problem, I hope it was some deficiency rather than a toxicity, which seems to do so much worse damage.
Experimentgreen
Experimentgreencommented7 years ago
@Spaceballs, I think many people do just water in an attempt to flush out built up nutrients and salts, so that their buds don't taste bad. However I know many of the nutrient company's do have a supplement that can be used during flushing to boost the flavor etc of buds....but you could always just go to the grocery store and buy some molasses, add that to your water and it will sweeten and bulk buds too. What's the saying? "There's a million ways to skin a cat"? Lol
Spaceballs
Spaceballscommented7 years ago
@Experimentgreen, thanks for the advice! Do you find that most people flush with a solution vs using just water to flush?
Experimentgreen
Experimentgreencommented7 years ago
@Spaceballs, Yea I saw alot of your leaf tips turning color, but its not always a bad thing in the end if you make to harvest and do a really good flush...maybe throw a sledgehammer in there. I have a friend who grows for the G men and he swears by adding a lot of nutes bloom etc in the end. I however don't necessarily agree, too much of anything isn't good for you right? But I suppose everyone has their own technique and opinions. :) They all look great though so hats off to you.

@Spaceballs This looks like a phosphorous deficiency. How often do you feed your plants with nutrients and how often do you give them plain PHed water? Anyway this seem to be solved since your plants are healthy and beautiful. Enjoy your product! 👊
