Week 6 Week 6 is sure to be an interesting one with these girls. Last week showed us that our runoff levels were very high for Plant #1 & #2 and our attempts at flushing had little effect. We had hoped to have a clean transition to a flowering feed schedule by now but we do plan to do another heavy flush next watering, followed by feeding with flowering nutrients so as not to deprive of their adjusted requirements. Day 36 - moved HLG's "Elite 360" light fixture up by 1" and increased intensity from 65% to 70%. We are seeing some leaf curl but nothing too drastic. - trying to keep temperatures 2-3 degrees cooler, aiming for 77-79F during lights on and 72-74F during lights off. - defoliated a few remaining lower branch shoots from Plant #1 & #3. We decided to leave most of the fan leaves and did some minor leaf tucking so that none of the bud sites were being blocked. Day 37 - no changes - increased circulation fan speed and exhaust fan speed to account for higher humidity from saturated pots. Day 38 - defoliation of Plant #2 and Plant #3 - watered Plant #3 with dechlorinated tap water with 3ml/gallon of GHE's "CALiMAGic" and 1ml/gallon of Remo Nutrients' "Micro", "Bloom", "Astroflower", "Nature's Candy" & "Velokelp", resulting in a 500ppm nutrient solution. - moved Sunblaster 2700K T5's up 3-4 inches. - removed wire rack from under Plant #3 to provide a more even canopy. Day 39 - no changes Day 40 - watered Plant #1 & #2 with a 300ppm solution of dechlorinated tap water with CALiMAGic Cal-Mag supplement. Watered to 30% runoff. - Runoff still testing very high, at 2800ppm. - raised HLG "Elite 360" fixture 2-3 inches to maintain 20-24 inch distance to canopy. Increased intensity from 70 to 75%. Day 41 - minor LST adjustments, leaf tucking Day 42 - no changes

Grow Questions
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrowsstarted grow question 4 years ago
Leaf issues started showing up in 2 of 3 plants, progressing fast. Soil runoff tests have been v. high (2000ppm+) so we're assuming it's a lockout issue. We watered 1 day ago, with 200ppm solution so pots are still very wet. Better to let them dry out a bit or flush right away?

Heya, I would personally let it dry out and then perform a flush until you hit your desired ppm and resume as normal. Usually the process I follow if I have a salt build up that high. Good luck!

@Green_Coffee, Thanks for the message. Yes, we've been talking about doing a coco run since after our first grow. We tend to always struggle a bit with managing our nutrients in soil. As you say, the big appeal with coco is having more immediate control over what's going in and what's coming out. Despite being relatively new to growing Cannabis indoors, we both are fairly avid gardeners and I do have a bit of outdoor Cannabis experience, although, that was a good 15-20 year ago now but we've always grown in soil, so it's really just the familiarity that we cling to by not moving to coco. I had said that after our last run i was definitely going to try coco... and i find myself saying it again... just a matter of diving in and seeing how we make out i guess! We're definitely still trying to sort out what works for us but i do feel like coco might be more suitable. Personally, I'd like to get back to growing photos, but my girl really likes autos and we still have a bunch of auto seeds that we need to get planted. Again, if coco can speed up the process, that's definitely something I'd be interested in. Thanks again for the comment! 👍

For the record, I couldn't disagree more with Albert. I personally find your journaling to be very meticulous and informing. Your grow style works very well for what ya'll are trying to accomplish. Adding in the very tastefully done pictures of a beautiful woman, who is obviously very involved in the growing process, is just icing on the cake. I think cannabis is more than just a plant that gets you high, it's a lifestyle that includes a very wide variety of people, including those of us who happen to appreciate females whether they are 2 legged or multi branched. Let the haters hate. Ya'll just keep on doing what you do

@@pizzaman841, Thanks for kind words! We know our style may not be to everyone's taste but we do try to maintain a sense of respect for people's opinions and for the GrowDiaries community in general. We also recognize that everyone interprets things differently and we do want to reiterate that we respect all people, all body types, all genders & orientations, races and religions. What we create and share here is done in a light-hearted way that we feel reflects our lifestyle and the nature of our relationship and growing experiences. We've learnt a lot through tracking our grows and through being able to connect and discuss with more knowledgeable growers here. We do value the variety and variation of the Cannabis community and we're just trying to carve out our own unique space here at GrowDiaries. It's always nice to know that people appreciate it, so thanks!

Everything is looking great. I'm loving the color your starting to get. Just this week I've been seeing the same. I'm also feeling you on the smell profile. Right now it's very mild sweet but no cheese, or vanilla, or some of the other descriptors. Nonetheless she is a beautiful plant that looks like it has a lot of potential. I can't wait to see how this one shapes up. Keep up the great work. 😀

@Treighfunky, yep, seems like every day the smell profile changes but we were expecting a bit more of that classic "cheese" smell. We're not disappointed though, they smell wonderful! 👍

If you have any desire to breed, clone plants one and two and cross them for a more or less stable parent for crossing later. As long as they have desirable traits obviously.

@Learning, These were freebie seeds from FastBuds that we won through one of their contests here and we've got plenty of other seeds so no problem there. We're not writing this grow off just yet though. It may not be a record setter but we should still be able to pull a few decent buds from these girls... 🤞✌️

@VanCplGrows, Yeah I wouldn't try during flowering as I would think it's to late. Do you have more seeds? Is it worth it to you to buy more if not? Personal decision here obviously.

@Chronicbastard, Ya, we're currently use "RAW" brand microbes and in previous grows we've used mycorrhizae. We've been using them in our veggie garden for years to great success. Great White and ReCharge are tricky to find in-store in Canada but we do have lots of alternatives and do plan to continue trying different products. 👍

How do you like the 360 elite from HLG? Seems to be growing really nice buds for you!

@VanCplGrows, that's awesome! 3 in a 2x4 would be pushing some serious light with some nice colas. I have the 225 with the QB96 in a 2x2.5 and just switched to flower. Really excited to see how it does! Great grows as always and keep it up!
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@L_Tetragrammaton, we actually really love the 360 Elite! Those QB96 Elite V2 boards are pretty amazing and we do like the built in bluetooth controller. We do wish they had've incorporated a manual knob to adjust the light intensity as well though. As much as we love the clean look of the pre-built fixture, i think that if we had to do it again we would go with a build-it-yourself option, maybe using 3 QB96 V2 boards for a 2x4 space and placing the ballast outside of the tent. No complaints here though, it's a great light!

Love the setup with the aircon and the air exchange! very creative. Looks like it could be very effective to manage a small grow space 👌

@VanCplGrows, excellent to hear - thanks for the feedback.
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@HazeyBobby, Thanks! Yes, it does work quite effectively to help manage our grow environment. At the moment, it does require a lot of manual adjustments, depending on the outside temperature. We would love having a bit more automation involved, as far as adjusting the ratio of outside air to A/C air, but for such a small grow space the costs associated with that kind of automation don't really make sense. For the most part, it works fine for us as is. 👍🌱
