If you really want to be correct, it'd be best to invest in a par-meter.. this way you can measure the intensity and adjust it according to the state of the plant.
While the really good sensors are expensive (like the Apogee), Shane from Migro tested a cheap 30-bucks unit from Amazon and created a "conversion factor" that can be used to calculate the PPFD value for a given light-temperature (i.e. 3k, 3.5k etc) to match his Apogee. He said in his video, that up to 1000PPFD this specific unit was quite accurate, so I think that could be a good investment (i got it myself as well).
