Hi friends. I want to upgrade my setup for a quantum board and i see there are a debate ongoing about the ones with samsung diodes and chinese one. Is the difference of price compesate the quality? What is more appropriate in your opinion for a budget around $150-200? Thanks!

you may save $100 now, but within a year you'll spend well over $100 more in electrity. Plus, it may not last as long, so you have to buy replacements sooner. Not to mention added heat with reduced effcacy. You can find a QB that's ~100w and samsung LM301b diodes for 150 or less i believe. it's good for a 18x18 space or so? maybe 20x20? in bloom. Probably 24x24 in vege. So, you likely need more than 1. 4 would be great for a meter^2. so, you need to compare umol/s relative to area to determin requirement and umol/s*J^-1 ( (umol/s)/J ) for efficacy. After that you also have to compare the point at which it is 80% as intense - L80? It's a curve or simply stated as such and how long to get there (still form a curve)... if it isn't 50-60k hours, you have to consider that in the cost over time. Spend a bit more. Get a 2.7+ umol/s*J^-1 efficacy @1.4A (lower Amp = greater eficacy pushing "3") and a 50-60k hours until 80% intense, and it's a good option.. regardless of the name stamped on it... assuming its specs have integrity.

I have in total 5 quantum boards, and when it comes to Chinese manufacturers on Alibaba, i suggest either Meijiu or Kingbrite, as those are high quality units (and use original Samsung, Cree or Epistar diodes and original Meanwell drivers).. I just ordered 3 or those 5 boards about 2 weeks ago from Meijiu. They were a bit more expensive when it comes to shipping, but have a much better heatsink than Kingbrite. Also Doris from Meijiu was super-fast in responding to any questions and creating the order to Europe. Even after the shipment she followed up, when the packet arrived in my country. Unfortunately the same could not be said about Kingbrite. They didn't create the order in over 2 weeks, so that's why i then decided to contact Meijiu. Meijiu didn't have the 660nm from Cree, only Epistar, so that's why i went to Kingbrite first, but and i think I should have gone to them right away after comparing the quality of the heatsinks. They ship with Fedex, so once they ship (5 to 10 days after the order has been created and paid), the shipping takes just a couple of days. will definitely order there for any of my future quantum boards
