do they use samsung lm 301b diodes? if so, they will have equal efficacy, which is what you want to use to compare lights
umol/s will tell you intensity of the light (not watts... never, never use watts.. it barely correlates between tech)
(umol/s)/joule (umol per second per joule) or it reads umol/s * J^-1 -- same thing the -1 exponent just means "divided by" in this case and saves parantheses use.
So, you see one light is 2.3 umol/s J^-1 vs 2.7umol/s J^-1, you know it is nearly 20% more efficient.... you will spend 1/6th less per month on electricity between those two even if they provide the same umol/s. (if i flipped my fractions... you can do the algebra, lol... it'll add up one way or another like i say, lol)
I didn't look at the other, but that HLG is awesome. i'm a little concerend about the 2.8 value.. i don't think that's at 650w or full bore... that would be running at ~.7A-1A and any not higher. 1.4A with those diodes are less than 2.8 umol/s per j, if i recall.
Anyway... if ~1600 diodes @ 1.4A that's more likely the 1770ppf the advertise, but double check spec sheet.. it can easily do a 4x4 bloom. or even a 5x5 in bloom with a little weakness around edges i bet.
This is not a misinformed suggstion by the manufacturer.. that's an excellent sign of quality compared to other options lol.
