Just keep her flat until she's got the base you want.. then allow as much vertical growth as you want before bloom and bam you are harvesting.... months later.. and waiting another month for drying, lol. by weaving shoots, they'll mostly grow evenly. thicker branches will still dominate a bit, so send them toward more open space. send slower and lower shoots to smaller areas of need. you may find later that some of these aren't worth keeping from beginning, but gain some baseline before doing more than neccessary. Anyway, have a plan.. change if neccessary.. but if you have a plan you can adjust next time in a smart way. the plant will react in a predictable way. you'll see how to manipulate it differently next time. their auxiliary buds will grow, and it's all timing of when to let terminal bud grow vertically so it is all mostly even when done growing. again, it's something you'll do better each time, if not well the first time too. Pruning can help in a less densely populated area, or it could slow something down while redicting resources elswhere... After lights switch, you don't want to prune much for the canopy, if you do, do it immediately -- defoliation pruning aside. It'll only have about 3 weeks or a bit more to grow. prune too late and all you do is make smaller colas. It'll double in size.. first grow almost always has too big of a plant.. so just keep that in mind.. talking about area, so 9x9 is not 1/2 of 18x18. compare square footage for a btter guess as to how large it'll get. (or metric, of course).
