most definitely.
first, give them time to push it mostly off at the least... if you see completely developed cotyledons - nice green and lush - the shell is likely propped nearly open and you can help it at that point so photosynthesis can begin. sometimes a little drop of water soaked in for a bit can make it more pliable too.
the leaves will continue to work it open... when it is incredibly easy to pull it off by the looks of it.. it's probably okay.
the negative impace of planting a seed so the taproot immediately goes down is a greater likelyhood of this happening. plant the crown horizontally, and it'll be a good lever for both upward and downward growth... plus, the shell is way ore likely to be ripped off by soil like it normally is.
