Fingers go by the age and light of the plant. 1,3,5,7 fingers. The plant will make 9,11 and even 13 fingers if there is excess light. 7 is the average of a healthy plant.

Hey Growmie, You can say that this is true, the number of fingers per leaf increases as the plant matures, so if they're not increasing it's a sure sign that something is going on with the plant, and some plants can actually grow up to 13 fingers.
